Pencil skirts

Have you ever worn a pencil skirt on a day you've not had to do anything formal? Would I get laughed at in the street if I wore a calf length pencil skirt with tights instead of jeans. Is it odd for women to dress like this today or am I just being paranoid?

I often wear them. I think it depends very much on what you wear it with. But no, I don't think it is weird and I can't imagine anyone would laugh.

I don't wear skirts often, but I do have a couple of pencil skirts and I love them, they remind me of my 80s teenage years. I wear them with woolly tights, oversized jumpers and my usual DM boots or shoes

How would the people in the street know that you are overly dressed for your day by some arbitary standard when they have no idea what else you've done or are planning to do during the snapshot of time that you are within their view?

My friends and I wear pencil skirts all the time. With tights and ballet pumps for work, with trainers for the pub or with heals for a night out. They aren’t weird, they are versatile and quite flattering in my opinion.

Yes I absolutely wear a pencil skirt!! In the summer with a tshirt and trainers, in the winter with a knitted chunky jumper, tights and boots (or chunk loafers this year).

You could carry a placard saying, "Don't worry, I'm about to do something formal" ?

Often actually. They’re quite versatile depending on how you style them. Unless it’s a tailored pinstripe one in which case, not so versatile 😂
