I'm having a crap time, can someone recommend a movie to distract me?

I'm a pregnant hormonal wreck and I'm in hospital for the night again as I've done nothing but throw up for 24 hours. Third admission this pregnancy and I'm only 8 weeks. I'm exhausted, nauseous and feeling guilty for how little time I've spent with my son lately. I feel like I want a big cry but I don't want to make a scene.

I am glad I have a private room for the night though so I've got my laptop and I'm going to snug down and watch a film. I have Netflix, prime, Apple TV, Disney plus. I want something funny and distracting and upbeat. I love shitty romcoms, cheesy comedies. Something I haven't seen before, I keep picking absolute doss on Netflix and turning it off after 20 minutes so thought I'd ask my fellow wise mumsnetters..

Not a film but Shtisel got me through a really tough patch last year.

Best thing I have ever watched on Netflix

When I'm feeling like you do I always watch Ever After. It's soppy and silly and sweet, perfect for a weepy duvet day.

It's on Disney + at the moment too.

Have you seen The Big Sick? It is a really lovely romcom. Not about vomiting, I promise.

Mumoblue · 07/01/2022 19:45

Have you seen Enchanted? It’s on Disney plus. It’s one of my go-tos for lighthearted movies.

The Holiday on Netflix is good too, if you’ve not seen it. Cheesy romcom.

Encanto on disney+ is great but it is a cartoon.

Snow1n · 07/01/2022 19:48

While You Were Sleeping is a nice easy to watch romcom. The Lake House is good too although I cant remember if theres a sad ending or not!

Love hard! It’s slightly Christmassy but very enjoyable

canary1 · 07/01/2022 19:55

Free guy, if you’re looking for something that’s not christmassy
The Holidate or Love Hard if you’re still a bit christmassy
All good comedies to hopefully cheer you up xx

canary1 · 07/01/2022 19:55

Not sure where it is but Slumdog millionaire is warm, tense at times, with a lovely ending.
