3 year olds birthday - what can we do!

So my little boy is 3 in March. We are looking at going away somewhere for the night and having a day out somewhere. However neither of us drive 😩.

So does anyone know anywhere we can go by train that's fun for a birthday for a 3 year old boy?

We live in Liverpool if that's any help. He loves trains anyway so a train ride wouldn't be a problem. Just want a fun day out and a nice hotel we could stay at!

Thanks x

Would it be too far to do train to London then Wonderlab at the Science Museum? My 3 year old adores it.

York and the NRM (if he likes trains)?

Could you do a split journey? Take him to Cbeebies land at Alton Towers in Stoke on Trent.

It's two trains to Stoke from Liverpool but both relatively short journeys. You could stay at a hotel in Stoke then make your way from Stoke to Cbeebies land. Or you could just stay at a hotel in Cbeebies land, but it would make for a bit of a faffy journey to do in one (getting to the train station in Liverpool, then two trains, then getting to Cbeebies land from Stoke).

@HumunaHey good idea about alton towers but stoke Station to Alton towers isn't really close (it's 15 miles) and wouldn't have a direct bus, would need a taxi.

How about Blackpool? Cheap and about 90 minutes away. Not fancy, but ice creams on a beach are what 3 year olds love! There’s the zoo and aquarium too.

Oh that would be quite expensive!

I must admit I always assume if somewhere is in the same city, it's well within a 10mile radius Blush.

Birmingham has a Legoland Discovery Centre and a Sea Life Centre, and you can get combi tickets for both of them.

And if you wanted to you could hop on a train to bourneville and go to Cadbury world.

We did an overnight at Drayton manor when Ddwas 4 and she loved Thomas land

Definitely York

Ducksurprise · 08/01/2022 12:10

Not very far, not very expensive and not too much. At three having his parents there and doing something out of the ordinary is more than enough, Blackpool and the aquarium sounds good to me.

LindaEllen · 08/01/2022 12:15

Train to Blackpool? There are LOADS of things to do there, and the added bonus is it's just one train journey. You could even stay over in a hotel if you think your son would find that exciting too.

York (direct train from Manchester, not sure about Liverpool) and the NRM. Possibly the Jorvic centre or the chocolate place, but he may be a bit young for both those.
