It's a bit of a taat tbh but all the same.. in a kinda Buddhist way.. what makes you happy about your space.
Before I start let me say we are all different ! Some townies some rurilites.. no one right or wrong just want to have a happy non bitchy thread appreciating what we have ...

I Love my Rural home. I am not privileged. I rent long term from lovely lovely people... I pay £995 (half my salary for the privilege) but it is really important to me to wake up every morning to THAT view... where I live makes the difference to my life.. I would love to see other peoples special spaces ...

I love our rented ramshackle freezing home because when( very unexpectedly) my teen dc wanted to come live with me ft there was enough room!! This house enabled me to repair the relationships my exh had tried so hard to destroy..
The place may be ruins but it repaired my mh massively...

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 07/01/2022 19:59

It's in a really central location of a small but busy city with excellent transport links to London but also to the countryside and the north.

It has lots of restaurants, parks, theatres, a couple of museums, bustling markets, a stunning cathedral. It's very safe, with a wonderful community spirit and fantastic schools. We really couldn't be raising our children in a better place - although house prices are shocking, so our house is pretty tiny! Still though, very lucky.

Love my home. The kids are 4th generation to live here.

Traditional stone cottage extended and renovated yet looks like its been here forever.

Mountains, slate quarries, quiet, lakes. I will never move

Kanaloa · 07/01/2022 20:02

I love how close we are to the sea. Even (or in DH case especially!) in the winter we love waking by the beach.

For our actual house I would say the thing I appreciate most is our lovely neighbours. Bad neighbours can really ruin your life, but we have a lovely couple with kids who are friends with my kids and an older retired couple who are very nice and love a chat.

RedCandyApple · 07/01/2022 20:03

I love finally living in a house with a garden after living with my 3 oldest children in a 3rd floor flat with no lift, that was awful so it’s lovely not having to drag pram/shopping up to the top floor, love having a garden for kids to play in.

Iamsodonewith2020 · 07/01/2022 20:05

I love where I live. For the first time in 22 years of owning my own house I look out the window and feel content. I can’t wait to get home from work every day to wander round my garden and love to feed all the different wildlife that visit near my window. Just writing this post is making me smile. I live in a small rural village of 875 people and it’s bliss

TabithaTittlemouse · 07/01/2022 20:07

We are in the middle of nowhere with beaches and woods close by, no neighbours, no nothing.
It’s big, has big gardens and a lovely wood burner.

I love my peace! I have a busy job and crave the tranquility of home.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 07/01/2022 20:08

Amazing community right in the middle of London. I never leave the house without bumping into someone I know (in a good way!). Lots to do.

BurnedToast · 07/01/2022 20:08

A quiet corner of SE London. Lovely neighbours who've all lived here for years, mostly social workers and teachers etc , bit increasingly more monied which means lots of building work. I can walk to Waitrose in 6 minutes , parks all around and a lovely woodlands to walk my dog but I'm 20 mins to central London. Not that I tend to bother these days.

thefirstmrsrochester · 07/01/2022 20:09

I love where I live because I have the best neighbours I could wish for.

hertsgirls · 07/01/2022 20:10

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal I think we might live in the same place (St Albans?) Smile

NiceTwin · 07/01/2022 20:11

From one side of the house, we have a beautiful view towards the Yorkshire border. The other side looks over a big hill.
I can see only 1 house in the distance.

I feel both lucky and privileged to have our own chunk of land. The best part of it is, my dh feels exactly the same.
We had many 'what have we done' moments and we definitely both had our rose coloured spectacles on when we saw it.
It will be too much for us when we are older but neither of us can see ourselves ever wanting to leave.

Ha, yes @hertsgirls! 😆

Delighted you recognised it from my description!

ItsFuckingJuneDadQuickHide · 07/01/2022 20:12

Blood sweat and tears went into it and its the most perfect home for our family. I love every corner of it. Sea views with fields behind us (for now)
Love going to bed listening to the owls. I am gratef for it every day although I know it's wouldn't be everyones cup of tea
It calms my soul

CurryLover55 · 07/01/2022 20:16

We downsized a few years ago but I feel so much more at home here than I did in our much bigger house. It’s my haven. We’re lucky enough to live in Cornwall so have beautiful beaches & countryside on the doorstep.

TheCanyon · 07/01/2022 20:18

The proximity to the school.
The people.
The beautiful countryside we're surrounded by when we're not locked in and the sheep, trees and hills do your guys in
It's my great grandparents/grandads home town, I remember coming here as a small child and having so much fun.
My cheap rent - we actually can't afford to move even if we wanted to.

onedayoranother · 07/01/2022 20:18

I love my home because: the layout works and I have made it look the way I want;
My neighbours are nice and everyone is friendly.
It's walking distance to tube and two parks for the dogs;
At Halloween it was like a scene out of ET - loads of kids having a great time.
It's SW London mid terrace. Only negative: I wish I was more central - it cost just under £1m but I'd need another £500-750k to get where I want.

belimoo · 07/01/2022 20:49

My garden is a weirdly amazing sun trap and if the sun is shining it's warm enough to sit outside. Last year we were sunbathing in shorts from April until October.

Also, the community is so welcoming and puts on great events.

MargaretThursday · 07/01/2022 20:55

Because it's a very friendly area. I walk from my village to the next town and everyone will greet you, if you know them or not. We help each other in little ways-things like putting the bins out if you see someone's forgotten.
And it's got a good train link 40 minutes to London when you want to go and see something there.

Waftypants · 07/01/2022 20:55

My house is big enough for the 3 of us but not so big that my DC will want to live here as adults. Also it's in a lovely place with good neighbours, a beautiful view and I've got everything I need within walking distance.

heidbuttsupper · 07/01/2022 20:56

I rent an apartment in a development which has an M&S Food!

PlanetNormal · 07/01/2022 21:02

I love where I live which is on the edge of one of the nicest villages in Leicestershire with beautiful views of open fields on one side of the house and a country park & reservoir on the other. We are also half an hour’s drive from a city. It really is the best of both worlds. You can’t have everything, though, and the big downside is that we are as far from the coast as it is possible to be in the U.K.

maddy68 · 07/01/2022 21:04

I can see the sea from my window and I have stunning views

Paleodiet · 07/01/2022 21:09

Quirky old house, quiet cul de sac lined with trees. Community spirit, friendly neighbours. Large city with great bus services, shops, bars, restaurants nearby.

RunRunGingerbreadMan · 07/01/2022 21:11

It's surrounded by trees and sheep.
