It's a bit of a taat tbh but all the same.. in a kinda Buddhist way.. what makes you happy about your space.
Before I start let me say we are all different ! Some townies some rurilites.. no one right or wrong just want to have a happy non bitchy thread appreciating what we have ...

I Love my Rural home. I am not privileged. I rent long term from lovely lovely people... I pay £995 (half my salary for the privilege) but it is really important to me to wake up every morning to THAT view... where I live makes the difference to my life.. I would love to see other peoples special spaces ...

It ticks every box we were looking for when we were searching for a new home. Every single one down to the most ridiculous wishlist request of a specific front door colour Grin. It just felt like it was meant to be, and it felt like home from the day we moved in. The areas around us suit us perfectly, a perfect mix of transport links and being accessible for the kids, whilst also plenty of outdoorsy stuff to do too. I am incredibly grateful to call this place home.

I have made a home.
I can make a home anywhere pretty much and learn to love it as my haven.

A mile from the sea, asking distance from supermarkets, four miles from a city with a great theatre and lovely cathedral, good transport links, the South Downs all around, lovely neighbours and purported to be the sunniest place in England. Not today though.

Mines a bit of a love/hate relationship.

I love my house because the landlord let me have this place after I packed up my DC and left my abusive exh with absolutely nothing to my name and only a few of my DC belongings. He let me take the house straight away (we'd been piled in my parent's spare box room for 3 weeks), with no bond, no deposit, and unsure when I'd have the first months rent sorted. For that I will be forever grateful for the chance to rebuild our lives.

I hate the area though, it's pretty crappy. Luckily we're on he very edge of it and just a stones throw from some beautiful Yorkshire scenery (the moors and Howarth), so that's a plus at least!

*Haworth .. I hate when my phone decides I've spelt that wrong!

I love it because whichever window I look out of there are fields of sheep and cows. Looking out from the front windows is a lovely old church, which is nice for seeing weddings at and admiring the bride's dresses.
A ten minute drive in either direction to two different large towns or a five minute drive to the motorway for other destinations.
Another plus is that I don't have to interact with my neighbours, even though it's a tiny village.
Perfect.

Love this thread. I have to move soon so it’s lovely to know what other people like. Helps me focus on what I like.
I am in an expensive London suburb in the cheapest bit! I can’t think of a better place to live in the world. Everything I need is on the doorstep and am near to so much green space. Lovely neighbours from every corner of the world. Wish I could afford to stay here. Need to find a similar green and safe and interesting suburb not too far away!

Hate my council flat in a very deprived area surrounded by angry, traumatised people passing on their trauma to their children Sad

But, I love the surrounding areas. We've got beaches, moors, forests, rivers and lakes all within half hours drive. Lots of ancient ruins, historical buildings and castles to explore. Wild ponies, sheep and cows strolling around. The only downside to living here is the very obvious lack of diversity.

As soon as I can afford it I'm going to rent private in a better area. Everyone always talks about the security of a council flat and that it's madness to give one up, but if security feels like living in a prison I'll take uncertainty thanks!

I love where we live because we are on the outskirts of a decent sized town so close proximity to countryside, plenty of woods/forests in one direction, 10 minutes in the opposite direction is a major shopping centre and plenty of large supermarkets. We are a 10 minute drive from a major airport and other main transport links, another 15-20 minutes and we can access the beautiful north east coastline and yet on a quiet day when we don't want to drive anywhere we can walk along the country lanes alongside the river and sometimes not see anyone for miles! I will never leave Smile

We are adjacent to a 12 acre nature reserve and are not overlooked whilst being less than two miles from a market town and in close proximity to London. Plus we have plenty of well organised space in an arts and crafts house. There are only 8 houses where we live, all well spaced, so the downside is that sometimes I can go a couple.of months without seeing a neighbour.

We moved a year ago. We're only 6 miles from where we lived before but it's so much nicer.
We're in a medium sized town in S Wales. The shopping centre is a 5 min drive. There's a lake, fields, woods, river, all with walking routes within a few minutes walk of my front door.
On top of that, I really love that the neighbours are nice. They say hello, bring bins in if you're not home etc - in our old street the neighbours were almost all awful.
