Talking about enjoying killing things and telling people is a bit odd...

You need to get more details before getting annoyed about it. You said the word assume which would indicate that you haven't sat down with your son and discussed it in detail. Also sometimes what kids tell you and what really happened can be two completely different stories. I am not saying they lie but stories can get jumbled up.

Context is everything.

Not really sure why you would want to 'speak to the school' though.
