Can a c section open up internally after 20 months?

Weird one, and google doesn't have much to go on.

Was wrestling with very strong DS (9) and he was pushing on my c section scar. It has really started hurting now and feels a bit odd inside, almost like pressure on my bladder. So weird!

I had dd 20 months ago so thought I would be fine.

Anyone with any experience?

They say not to try for another baby for 18 months so as you're post 20 it's probably just bruising and inflammation try some ibuprofen for a couple of days?

csecquestion · 06/01/2022 19:38

Yeah, I'm probably just being silly. I. just remember all the horrid infections, little holes and healing, and DD was a lockdown baby so no doctor check ups for me back then.

If it feels weird, you need to get it checked.

Nobody says not to try for a baby for 18 months that's completely untrue and ridiculous.

My consultant recommended not trying for 18 months because it can take 2 years for your muscles to get back to 80% strength

Op if it doesn't feel right, there's no harm in speaking to your gp and getting checked. Better safe than sorry. Even if you just speak over the phone atleast you might feel reassured knowing if it is possible or not

IDontKnowWhyAye · 06/01/2022 19:46

If ibuprofen doesn't help and it still hurts a week later maybe call GP, obviously if if gets worse definitely call them. But I'm sure you've got nothing to worry about xx

csecquestion · 06/01/2022 19:47

sensible replies, I would probably say the same to others. I just never prioritise my health I guess and tend to just carry on. Yes I will give the gp a call tomorrow. Thanks all for the sensible advice. Such a weird one. :)

Mine didn’t heal very well, terrible scar. Took over a year before I could walk at a good pace & not feel it. Baby is 18 months now, and I feel pressure if she sits on my stomach.
So, I do think damage can be done this far down the line. I still have to wear big knickers, as well... I think it will be another while before it heals fully, inside & out.

I was told it takes 2 years to fully heal after a c section. You can have a womb rupture. This actually happened to a friend of mine and she nearly lost her baby because of it.
Hercisback · 06/01/2022 22:08

I was told not to have another for 2 years afterwards as I'd had a bad recovery and this meant a higher chance of rupture.

Magenta82 · 06/01/2022 22:12

I was told not to get pregnant again for 12 months

How did you get on OP? hope all is ok, just curious if you found out if it can reopen internally or not
stairway · 12/01/2022 11:37

I was told to wait 2 years too. You might have a lot of adhesions.

Srj15 · 12/01/2022 11:53

Within minutes of my son being delivered, having not even seen him yet as he was being resuscitated in another room, the consultant told me to wait 2-3 years before having another baby
