My DS opened a gift we purchased for him on Christmas day and it was faulty. We had paid £40 for it, and price has now gone back up to £60.

I would like it replaced like for like.

It is not in stock at our local store so we have been given two options-

  1. Return to local store for a refund (don't want to do this, as want the product so would have to re-buy at £60, therefore their issue costing me £20)
  2. Travel half an hour each way to a store where it is in stock for it to be swapped (an ok solution, but I'd rather not do an hour round trip to fix a problem not if my making)

It is possible to 'click and collect' the item at our local store, so presumably they can order it in, just won't do so for an exchange Hmm

If I click and collect it (paying £60) immediately return it for a refund, presumably it will go into stock, then I can ask for it in exchange for my faulty item?

You can only click and collect at your chosen store if it’s available. It sounds like it isn’t.

If its out of stock you can't click & collect it though.

Thanks, actually, I've just rechecked and you're right. How annoying!!

Ugh, so it's and hour+ round trip then Hmm

I would speak to the manager. He/she should be able to sort it out. You shouldn't have to be inconvenienced.
