Can anyone tell me what my blood test results mean please?

I had a blood test done at the beginning of November, the receptionist told me it came back showing 'slightly raised platelets' and the Dr wanted a retest. So I had a retest at the beginning of December and I just phoned the surgery to see if my results are back in yet and the receptionist told me the Dr wants another retest. She just told me I'd be getting another booking form through any day and hung up before I had chance to ask why. I had a brainwave and checked my medical records online and saw the results of my last test came back the day after I had the blood test done! I'm curious and concerned about these abnormalities and why they haven't explained anything to me!

You should speak to your GP.

But the abnormal MGH/MCHC results suggest anaemia – was it a full blood count, was everything else in normal range? Did they also test your ferritin levels?

Anaemia is fairly common especially in women of child-bearing age.

Platelets can be high during/after infections and viruses, so that's why your GP has retested it - to see whether the high level was temporary. If you haven't had a recent illness then you should ask for the cause to be investigated.

@BlackInk I can't see anything that says Ferritin. Yes it was a full blood count, everything else was green and normal. Those were the only 3 abnormalities. I just realised I can see a little graph of each result from the two tests I've recently had.

I've had a cold, would that affect my levels that much? It seems quite high, especially with how much they've risen in the last month!
