Do you have to be in the mood to watch or read a particular thing?

Is it just me? I'm a mood reader/viewer. I can't just pick up any old book or watch any particular show. It has to feel right for that time. It's a real pain in the butt.

I'd love to join a book group but I just can't read the assigned book. I've tried readalongs online but they never work for me.

I'm autistic and not sure if it's related but regardless it's very frustrating.

Yes I'm similar. For some things I know it makes sense (like I can't watch Greys Anatomy or This Is Us when I'm hormonal because I'll cry and cry and cry) but for others there is no logic.
I watched a lot of Christmas films in December then randomly just before Christmas I couldn't face any for a day or 2 and watched really dark serial killer documentaries Confused

I don't question it now, just pick up tv shows when I feel like it and always have a few books on the go at the same time so I can read whichever one I fancy.

Yep, I have to be in the right kind of mood- one of my favourite genres is dystopian fiction, but I haven't been able to pick up a book or watch a film in that genre since last March. I've been reading/ watching more fantasy/ scifi/ christmas cheesy romance instead depending on what fits my mood! I am also autistic, my NT sister doesn't have the same qualms about reading but it could just be a personality thing rather than an ND/ NT thing.

Yes! It always depends on my mood and the genre or topic of the book, film or TV series.

Totally. Some things are too heavy. Others are too boring. Plus I have very poor concentration, which is the main reason
