Child-friendly seaside town

We're looking to go on holiday in the UK in May, and would like to go to the seaside. We had a lovely time in Southend last year, so something like that would be great. It needs to be no more than 1-1.5 hours by direct train from London. The children are between 18 months and 4.

Weymouth. The beach is lovely. There’s also the Nothe Fort which is cool plus a sea life centre amongst other things, Monkey World is also nearish.

I’ve been to Broadstairs recently and I didn’t particularly like it - I much prefer Dorset!

Sorry just read your update - Dorset is too far (although you can get the train from London to Weymouth).
