Anyone fancy talking to me and getting me through the next few hours?

We are on holiday. Baby slept terribly last night, got him down for 7 tonight. He woke 2 hours later and is still up. Keeps yanking my hair and clawing at my face. I’m sat in a dark room just wishing things were different.

Aww that’s rough. How old is baby?

2022coldandmiserable · 04/01/2022 23:32

I’m up with my baby too at the moment. Where are you on holiday?

2022coldandmiserable · 04/01/2022 23:35

Only in the uk but it’s a slight disaster. No one has slept more than a 2 hour stretch since we got here.

Will he like a story or a song from you? I used to make up some right old crap for my DC when they were tiny. You can hold up a sock and sing about it tbh. Sympathies Flowers

Heruka · 04/01/2022 23:36

Aw sorry OP. This is why I never went on holiday again for years after going away with first DC at 8 months. Hellish. You will survive this though. When do you go home?

2022coldandmiserable · 04/01/2022 23:37

Friday. But then back at work Monday and with baby’s sleep the way it is I feel exhausted just at the thought. I don’t even know how it’s possible for a 12 month old to survive on 2 hours sleep! When I Google help all the advice is for newborns!

Holidays are always imo a bit disappointing with babies. They notice the change and play up.

mrsprefect · 04/01/2022 23:39

Oh it's rotten. When I felt like that I would go online and buy myself a present. It doesn't need to be expensive - a nice soap or a book or whatever- just a treat because it's tough and you deserve a treat to look forward to.
This time will pass.

If you want a quick puzzle to keep your mind occupied I like wordle. www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

Sorry you're having a shit time op Flowers

Heruka · 04/01/2022 23:40

Grim, sounds exhausting. Is partner sharing nighttime shifts with you? Hope so!

NinaDefoe · 04/01/2022 23:41

Can you put some gentle lullaby music on and sing quietly along to it? I also used to stroke the side of my DC’s face/eye repetitively.
You have my sympathy OP. I bet you’re exhausted.

Showpan · 04/01/2022 23:44

In a similar position. Infant terrible at sleeping. Currently stood rocking with lullaby music. He just won't lay down solo, so frustrating. Up last night with him too, from 3am.

Serenschintte · 04/01/2022 23:48

I always gave mine calpol when they wouldn’t sleep - in the principal they were teething. Sometimes it worked. Worth a try maybe?

Poisinedmummy · 04/01/2022 23:52

The grufflo used to make my 12 month old fall asleep by making him sit next to me in my arms. Worth a shot lol on bbc I player

ElinorOliphant · 04/01/2022 23:56

No such thing as a holiday with a baby…. Just hard work in a different place 🤣

Poor you OP,you sound so tired. Hope he sleeps soon.

Blue4YOU · 04/01/2022 23:57

My DD used to sleep when I started reciting Room on the Broom (when she was 8-9 months). Wish that would still work!
Put on White noise on your phone (from YouTube for free)… it often works
