So far I have:
A little photo frame with her grandson
Some eye cream
A face mask
Chocolates

It looks bare! Any more suggestions please? I'd like a few smaller value items so there's a few things in there for her. No alcohol!

Are you going luxury or practical?

Contact her friends and ask them to write a short letter about what they love about her or send you some memories or photos

Depending what she is into?

  • photo book
  • Nice pen and note pad
  • A note pad with a magnet on the back you can write a shopping list on. I got this, along with a magnetic pen holder and both sit on the fridge. SO handy for writing a shopping list when things run out
  • Fancy/novelty washing up gloves
  • Gold leaf garden gloves
  • Secateurs
  • A large, coffee mug
  • Chocolate orange
  • Scarf
  • Towelling turban to use after washing her hair (mine was £2 from B&M)
  • Desk fan for the summer
  • Reed diffuser
  • Head torch
  • Slippers
  • Ground coffee/coffee bags
  • Nice teabags

Perfume, favourite choc bars tied with ribbon, framed drawing drawn by your son, nice elderflower cordial - you can get flavoured cordials in fancy bottles in supermarkets.

How old is her grandson? If the right sort of age, a picture drawn by him. A photo album with lots of photos from her life in it. Books.

You could pad out with a blanket, throw or clothing.

My mum who is a bit older than yours doesn't like "stuff" but on her 70th enjoyed a family day out. She gives away or throws out most gifts. Not because she doesn't like them, but the older she gets the less clutter she likes to have so she has cut right back.

RJnomore1 · 04/01/2022 21:37

What does she like?

I’d put pictures of her over the years in. I like the letters from friends too.

Nail varnish. Accessorise has a sale on, lots of little things reduced such as earrings, coin purse, fancy socks, hairband ( useful when cleansing face), fancy key ring, trinket box.
