Saw it yesterday & absolutely loved it! The actress playing Maria was incredible, especially considering it’s her first major role. I was so entranced, I only looked at my friend who came with me once. And oh boy did I cry! My friend said she didn’t cry until the end but I’d gone way before then! I think I prefer it to the original. It’s more violent but I guess that’s moving with the times. I read a review afterwards that absolutely tore Spielberg’s version to shreds but I would watch it again in a heartbeat. Took me quite a while to recover!

Has anyone else seen it?

Yes, and I really liked it. Very high energy and pretty true to the original.

I went with DH to see it just before Christmas. Thoroughly enjoyed it and still singing and dancing 'I want to be in America'

I've never seen it before, and was crying at the end. I'm tempted to go watch it again.

I saw it with dd and ds1 and we all have very different taste in films but we all liked it.
Ds1 thought the main male actor was a bit crap (the one from baby driver playing Tony) but was otherwise happy with it.
I was in tears from about 60% into the film

We loved it too

Yip, brilliant.

Yes loved it too ... Maria was amazing for someone so young and her first major role. Stunning voice. And Tony was wonderful too. Thoroughly enjoyed it, I'm away on holiday and it was a lovely to go the cinema on rather dull and dreary afternoon whilst DH went off hiking Grin.

I absolutely loved it, and so did exH who is normally a purist and who I would expect to be faithful to the original film. DS1&2 also really enjoyed it, aged 14 and 12.

I’d happily go and see it again.

I really enjoyed it too, with one big but, which was that I wasn't impressed with Tony AT ALL and therefore the end left me completely unmoved. Maria was amazing though and so were Anita and Valentina.

I loved it too. Better than the original, which I wasn't expecting. Also ugly cried at the end. It was one of the few films that I could have stayed in the cinema and watched over again.

I loved it too and I was worried because the original has a lot of sentimental value to me so I was super happy that they did it justice. I loved the numbers, the outfits, all of it was just lovely. The reviews I've seen have all been glowing as well. The only negative I've seen was questioning why they re made it if they weren't going to really change it in any way which is fair I guess.
