Chicken pox isolation guidelines

A family members DC has chicken pox and they've been taking them out and about every day regardless. This has really surprised me as they're usually very sensible and 'rule-abiding' and it was my understanding that with CP you should stay home til all spots are crusted over. However, on googling, I actually can't find this advice on the NHS website- I know I picked it up from MN so just wondering if this was 'official' advice?

We were told until the spots started to scab over, which was about a week

Definitely says stay away from nursery/ school here but doesn't specifically say stay home. Although I'd be really pissed off if I found out someone had been out and about with it

We weren't told to isolate as such. Couldn't go back to school until scabbed over but we went out for walks. Didn't go to the shops or park or anything though. Both mine had it one after the other, with loads of spots - wouldn't have left the house for a month.

Yes that's what I read @sorryiasked , it surprised me though as when I've read previously on MN everyone has been very vehemently on the 'stay at home' message.
