What toys from your childhood would you love to see again?

I'm a 90s baby and have recently been reminded of my old Polly Pocket collection. I've kept a fair few of my childhood toys (Sylvanian families and various Playmobile sets) for my future children, but am thinking of starting to collect vintage Polly Pocket sets just for nostalgia!

If you could have/collect any of your childhood toys, what would you wish to have most?

Peaches and Cream was my 1st barbie. I loved her. My dad was in the military and thought tvs rotted the brain so growing up, we didn't have one. Aged 8 or so, I was offered a choice between a TV or the Barbie stables plus horses for my birthday. I went stables and my parents bought their first tv roughly a week after I left for University.

Now I have a daughter I wish I'd kept my She ra dolls and my Flower Fairies but all the moves we made meant my toys were purged fairly ruthlessly.

I remember being very jealous of my younger sister's Webster's playhouse!

Yo-yos
Scooby-Doos - Not sure why we called them that or what its real name is but they were sort of like loom bands…more like thin cylinders and we could twist them and make them into things.
Making friendship bracelets.

Strawberry shortcake doll
Crystal Barbie
The tree house
The post office
My scented eraser and pen collection
Scratch art
But the most played with were my big soft bodied baby dolls and pram. I had loads of baby clothes and was still playing with them when I was 11.

I was a late 70’s child.

Blue eyed, brown haired Sindy.

I was a blue eyed brown haired little girl & I had a Sindy that looked like me.

None of the new range in Argos/Sainsburys have that combo, it's all brown eyes just like brunette Barbies with the Blonde getting the blue eyes.

Pink and pretty Barbie, her outfit was amazing! And ballerina Sindy.

I don’t think Sindy exists anymore and Barbie these days is such terrible quality with awful clothes.

ShottaSheriff · 04/01/2022 03:57

I so wished I had kept some of my toys. I was a careful child but had a little sister who destroyed things so lots got ruined, then my parents separated when I was 20 so nothing was kept.

Sylvanians, Charmkins, Polly Pocket, Sweet Secrets, keepers and a collection of Barbie and Sindy dolls and their furniture. Also Care Bears and My Little Pony. Especially Sylvanians, the modern houses are so plasticky compared to the original items.

Flower fairies - sold mine on eBay a few years ago and regretted it

Sindy was rereleased last year as a play line doll again so you can buy her in Argos or in Sainsburys supermarkets including a ballerina Sindy.

I got her (with her brown eyes & brown hair) for Christmas.

Me to!
I loved my Pippa dolls, me and my friend played hours with them, she had a fair few too.

Rubyupbeat · 04/01/2022 07:57

Too

@ErmineAndPearls

I lost her necklace early on! Sad
Oh wow, I had this one but had forgotten all about it until seeing this picture.

@Toomuchtoodo

I had this Barbie which went missing in a house move. Would love to still have her.
I still have mine (my mum's loft is like an 80s toys r us!) She's a bit worse for wear but I love that my kids now play with her.

Pound puppies - the mum one with babies velcroed in her tummy!

DropYourSword · 04/01/2022 08:56

So glad I opened this thread - off to Google pictures of Keypers, Popples and Glo friends I’ve just been reminded of to have a quick reminisce!

FrenchyQ · 04/01/2022 09:04

Pound puppies, my mum kept mine for me 😊
Keypers, I had Sheldon the purple snail.
I only ever had one Barbie doll but she had a beautiful red dress.

mumofEandE · 04/01/2022 09:19

@Laiste

Pippa dolls.

I had 4 or 5 of them. I played with them every day. They were like miniature barbie dolls. I had a Barbie but preferred Pippa. Nicer for little hands :)

I loved my Pippa doll - she had fabulously glossy hair and was dressed in purple velvet trousers and a red shirt. I wrote to Jim'll Fix It asking to have the same outfit madeConfused but he never replied luckily!
mumofEandE · 04/01/2022 09:21

@CamsPaisleyCuffs

These 2 beauties.
Can you imagine a child getting a little post office now - you'd have to explain to them cash / sending letters / the concept of a post office!
abouttogoon · 04/01/2022 09:29

Loved Amanda Jane dolls and all their outfits. Also had the furniture that clicked together and had sticky labels so they could be a tv, or a washing machine or radio. Still got a few bits!

CrackerGal · 04/01/2022 09:54

Peaches n Cream Barbie, The Heart Family & Tiny Blessings dolls!
Also those large Zapf creation baby dolls & original Cabbage Patch babies.
I was trying to attach photos but it won't let me!

Onetraumaatatimeplease · 04/01/2022 11:38

@Toomuchtoodo I had that barbie and the matching Ken. Who knows what happened to them. I remember the Christmas that I got them, all set up in a horse and carriage.
This Christmas I bought (eBay) fashion wheel. I loved it when I was young, and yes I have played with my 'new' one. Still love it!

Oh my god that image immediately brought to mind the feel of her dress and stole! It was so crinkly.

This is a huge blast from the past!! I had this, plus the two in the pic attached. They were my most treasured possessions! I can still feel the crackle of the iridescent dress and the smell of the plastic Grin

Strawberry Shortcake Dolls from the 80s I loved them.

ancientgran · 04/01/2022 12:07

Don't know if anyone has been to a toy fair? They hold them round the country, usually in an exhibition centre or large hall. They are great fun to walk round, there is everything from really expensive collectors items to boxes of old stuff to look through with things for £1.

I've been to one and seen things I had as a child, things my younger sibling had and things my children had. It is usually about £4 or £5 for a ticket, well it is where I am.
