Brands to not stand out.

Just wanted some help please.
I have a nearly 10 year old ds with asd.

I need to get him a new coat and wondered what are the ‘in’ brands atm - he has absolutely no interest in fashion but I don’t want him to be wearing an ‘uncool’ brand - I’m a bit of a dinosaur so have no idea - I do remember being laughed at when I was his age - cos mum had no interest in fashion and I think all my clothes were from Woolworths!..

He’s already had a few comments cos the minecraft backpack he wanted is too babyish for year 5 😔

I don’t want to change him, he’s wonderful but life is difficult enough for him without being laughed at if he has the ‘wrong’ stuff.

Any help is really appreciated- thanks.

Most of the Y5/6 boys at DSs school wear plain, dark waterproof type coats. They are the very genetic type that you can pick up in Next, M&S, Mountain warehous etc. They don't seem bothered by brands etc.

As for backpacks, they all seem to have plain ones on the colour fade ones by Hype.

DS only wants 'cool' trainers, but is perfectly happy with the cheapest Adidas ones - he only cares that they have the logo, not that they are particular style.

Aww brilliant thanks - he’s just outgrown a dark waterproof one - I’ll get him something similar - just worried if any brands are a big no?
Great if not 😊
Thank you.

My dd is year 5, most of the kids have adidas, nike or hype backpacks. Most don't have branded coats, but if they do its usually adidas/northface/superdry. I've got 2 boys with asd, and do keep an eye on what other kids are wearing so its one less thing for them to worry about being teased for! My eldest is in yr 7 now, but his year at primary seemed to be very into branded stuff, not so much for my dds year thank god!

Brilliant thanks 😊 It is so hard isn’t it - it doesn’t help that he goes to breakfast and after school club so I don’t get to see many of his classmates!

Thanks so much that’s really helpful
