Paedophile hunters

this may be quite emotive and long but as a survivor of 3 separate people abusing me before age of 10 and being groomed at 15 then raped I was interested to read of Paedophile hunters. The fact I was subjected to so much long before the internet makes me wonder how bad things really are these days. Gone are the days when it is simply a case of keeping a family computer in view of the family with mobile phones having access to the internet it must be a nightmare keeping an eye on what children are now accessing though this is not an excuse for Paedophile activity children should be able to use the internet without fear or danger.
I realise that the Police resources are very stretched and they simply don't have the time or men to track down these Paedophiles as much as needs to be probably.
From what I could understand these groups joined chat rooms forums etc posing as underage children and encourage Paedophiles to chat to them stating their age waiting to see if they suggested meetings, sending pornographic images or films etc. if possible they would arrange a meet turning up as the group or if no meeting then they would often go to the Paedophiles home. In theory, this sounded plausible if this meant immediately ringing the Police so a proper investigation into the person activity online could be conducted.
I watched some of these stings as they call them on YouTube. I found a lot of the groups were nothing more than bullies harassing the people in question by bombarding them with copies of what they had said to the child or rather a decoy; intimidating them and really treating them like dirt. yes they had allegedly committed a crime which is very wrong but a lot of these people were mentally ill, elderly or of very low intelligence which is not an excuse but it has been shown this kind of behaviour has led to suicide. I know lots will wonder why I as a victim don't think oh good one less to deal with but to me, a lot of these groups and individuals just use this as an excuse to attack someone I must admit I do think which I never think I would that these groups should either be stopped or more closely supervised

We had hunters turn up on my neighbours door, shortly after we moved in, he was obviously released. Then they turned up again, about 6 months later, he obviously continued doing what he wanted as thought nothing happened last time, which was talking to underage girls sending Dick pics, wanting to meet up for sex etc. This was a 50/60 year old man. He ended up with an 18m custodial sentence. The same hunters reported a man working on a caravan holiday site in Folkestone, twice. Because it wasn't his address, even though he lived there during the season, that police force handed over to his one, where he actually lived (off season) who did absolutely nothing about it and never acted upon it. The papers got hold of it in the end, as the caravan site, knew about the police coming, but as it was never actually investigated, they let him carry on, surrounded with the temptation of easy pickings of all those children on holiday with family. If anyone is keeping our children safe, I am all for it as the legal system isn' and doesn't necessarily have the resources to. Don't believe in the bullying, but the hunters who I follow is lead by a women, who just takes no shit, stays calm, even though she probably wants to put them down. She just recently caught a teacher. They never show all the evidence, when they catch them, only snippets of conversation etc some with a decoy, others where they had contacted an actual child and the parents got in touch with them, when got no where when going to the police, but it's never the whole story, there is always much much more, as a whole folder is handed over the police. The people on my street already knew, I made sure I told the rest. It's the secrecy that allows them to continue what they are doing.

If they’re targeting the right people good on them, it’s when they get it completely wrong that the issues arise

Rubyupbeat · 06/01/2022 18:38

I worry about these people posting photos, as many have been targeted because of mistaken Identity, one innocent man ended up on life support.
The same happened a few years back, when the James Bulger killers up to date photos were doing the rounds, 2 men ended up seriously injured because of mistaken identity.

These "hunters" tamper with evidence, make it inadmissible in court, and letting pervs go free on a technicality.
Let alone they attack innocent people/family members.
