What would be your limit?

OP posts:
Lacedwithgrace · 03/01/2022 16:11

Depends who you're on the phone to

WorraLiberty · 03/01/2022 16:12

What @Lacedwithgrace said.

JuergenSchwarzwald · 03/01/2022 16:13

And on how much it is costing you.

girlmom21 · 03/01/2022 16:14

Are you trying to get through or on hold for a resolution having already spoken to someone?

Is it urgent or can it wait until tomorrow when there'll likely be more staff available as it won't be a bank holiday?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/01/2022 16:14

Are you on the phone to my GP surgery?

Crunchymum · 03/01/2022 16:14

Well you've omitted the most vital information.

Who are you on hold for?

thewhatsit · 03/01/2022 16:16

On hold to HMRC about your tax return? I’d wait.

On hold with your gym checking opening hours, I’d have given up 1 hour 6 minutes ago.

pengu · 03/01/2022 16:19

No idea

I have a private scan booked tomorrow, need to move it.

It's sunken cost fallacy now

If it's a private hospital/clinic (who you would normally expect to answer promptly) I would think that I had probably got lost rebounding around the telephone system, so would hang up and try again. If still no luckni would assume a problem with the phone system.

I'm going to give up soon.

I’d think it’s a Bank Holiday and wouldn’t be sure that anyone would be answering calls!

pengu · 03/01/2022 16:31

@BabbleBee

I’d think it’s a Bank Holiday and wouldn’t be sure that anyone would be answering calls!
Then whyyyyyyy tell me I'm 8th in the queue and that I'll be answered soon!

Hung up now. 90 mins was my limit

OP posts:
PuppyMonkey · 03/01/2022 16:32

Yep, bank holiday Monday so I would assume they weren’t open.

PuppyMonkey · 03/01/2022 16:33

Okay, maybe one person in answering all calls then.

Babdoc · 03/01/2022 16:43

This reminds me of when DD and her partner visited me en route to the isle of Skye. Her partner was trying to phone Sofology to change a sofa delivery date.
He was told he was 45th in the queue, and held for well over 90 minutes, before reaching 2nd in line and being cut off.
A few days later I received a postcard from Skye. It was unsigned and had just one sentence: "Dave is still on hold to Sofology...!"

Tempusfudgeit · 03/01/2022 16:55

If it's Ultrasound Direct, I think it says the phone number is only for the actual day of your scan.

CeratopsofthePharoahs · 03/01/2022 17:08

My limit was two hours (NTL when they still existed) and I stopped because the cordless handset ran out of battery.
Virgin Media are pretty bad, but I've not had any issues on the rare occasion I've needed to actually speak to someone.

Vapeyvapevape · 03/01/2022 17:15

I was trying to get through to the Court of Protection, the phone rang for nearly 3 hours.

Cheguevarahamster · 04/01/2022 19:44

Is it Vitality? Their customer service is shocking.

Sunsetsupernova · 05/01/2022 23:21

That’s funny to hear about Vitality. I did an online quote with them a few weeks ago and they’ve been absolutely hounding me with calls. I think I’ve blocked 10 of their numbers now!

BleuJay · 05/01/2022 23:28

In 2005 I was on hold to BT for six months.

No exaggeration or lie.

Bastards.

Although they did eventually compensate us.
