Lost RM Parcel... can't claim apparently :-/

Or can I, has anyone come across this problem before & found a way around it.

I sent a birthday gift to my old friend in Ireland in November. It was a handmade set of items custom made for my friend with quality fabrics that I made in the couture vintage way that I know she'd love. Im a professional designer-maker, though currently retired due to injury, so made or not, it's a quality item.

Parcel didn't arrive, still hasn't arrived & tracking gives mixed information, one saying it was delivered, another that it's got as far as the Dublin warehouse, no reply from the Dublin courier after weeks.

Ideally I just want it found, delivered & the overpriced fast tracked postage I paid for in good faith that it would get there quicker, refunded. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a route to make this happen, not one that replies anyway 😏

I've just filled in the Royal Mail missing parcel form & realised that there is no compensation for this item without an invoice, which of course I don't have. It was a lot of work, which I'm going to have to do again, which really pees me off when I'm working with a significant bloody injury & it's the post office/Ans fault not mine.

Anyone have any ideas, ideally a way to chase up, find & get it delivered correctly... even Amazon/yodel etc aren't this shit Confused

As a business sender I have previously provided individual receipts for the elements in the made product and then documented the time taken and my charge for that. As you are not a business, you probably can't claim for your time.

This happened to me last year. I sent two tops (about £15 each) plus a hand sewn gift to SIL. It never did arrive. All RM would do was give me £6 for the postage.

Who are the Dublin courier that aren't responding? Most likely it is a customs issue. Was the customs form filled in correctly including all of these details
A valid HS/TARIC Code
A valid item description
Country of origin
Item value
Postage, insurance, freight paid
Sender name, address details
Addressee name, address
Packet/parcel weight

If it was an Post that is handling the parcel in Ireland you could calling them rather than waiting on an email reply.

Do you have an invoice for the materials?

SmithofSilver · 03/01/2022 15:22

Just to add as well an post have a live chat facility(probs not today on a bank holiday though) that I have found helpful in the past.

They are your items, can you not create a sole trader invoice for claiming purposes?

If you paid by PayPal you should be able to claim.
