Defrosting whole chicken??

This morning I took a whole chicken out of the freezer and put it in the fridge on the top shelf. How long will it take to defrost and when will I be safe to cook it?

Thank you!

I think find out the weight and then Google defrosting instructions from there

Weeks. Nothing ever defrosts satisfactorily in the fridge. Put it on the countertop and it should be ready this evening.

First you shouldn't defrost raw meat on the top shelf unless the rest of your fridge is empty as there is ( probably only small but ) chance that blood will drip onto cooked food / salad etc .
If I defrost a while chicken in my fridge it would take days, it's like the north pole in there.
I defrost meat on the work top, if you need to keep it away from pets/ flies put it in the microwave / oven .
It then takes about 3 hrs but of course a huge amount depends on the size of the bird and temp of the kitchen .
