I would be grateful for support for my petition. My daughter is one of many disabled persons who have non standard shoe needs. In her case she has only half a right foot. Some shoe pairs are thankfully suitable with orthotics added but many are not and for example summer sandals we need to buy mismatched pairs to ensure one for each foot. The reality is double the cost of shoes for us much of the time.
She is one of many who have such needs, both children and adults, and we would like if possible for shoe manufacturers to sell mismatch shoe sizes or even single shoes such that there is no financial penalty. I can buy pyjamas with tops and bottoms in different sizes if I want to, so why not shoes?
Yes, there are a few schemes for reduced prices and yes there are groups where people share spare shoes, but even with these, getting shoes that are right isn’t easy or cheap.
Many thanks,
