I have to say Christmas for me has been a completely different experience. I’m from a big family an never had a quiet one before until now. Just me and my partner when work wasn’t permitting half day Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

My favourite presents.

I’m impressed by a comfy my cousin sent me from Amazon it’s amazing love it.

My engagement ring is beautiful and I feel so blessed.

Unusual present - was given a certificate with a star named after me was nice but strange.

Worst present- I’m not an ungrateful person but received some chocolates I don’t like but will be appreciated by my partner.

So moving on to New Years 2022

Very quiet I’m not well can’t get out of bed it’s been a week tomorrow still waiting on pcr test coming and on s months resdycing course of steroids I have ear sprays and lots of different painkillers so was no celebrations. But I’m not complaining im just thankful I’m alive and for all my friends and family and had a good end to 2021 and awaiting what 2022 brings us all.

Happy new year from the north east of England

Please share your best or worst bits or whatever you want but please let this be a nice thread if possible

Opening the presents on Christmas morning went well, was nice and relaxed, better then the last few years. I was happy with everything I received.

Christmas dinner cooked by Dh was fantastic as ever.

Having ds2 home from Uni has been quite stressful, he’s tricky to live with.

Quite glad it’s all over now, need to get back to normal routines.

Best bit: having a lazy christmas morning with DH, cooking breakfast and opening our lovely presents. My favourite presents this year were some gorgeous posh bath oils from DH. We also had a lovely, but quiet NYE.

Worst bit: seeing the in laws. The whole visit felt fraught and I couldn’t wait to leave. It’s the same every year.

Best bit: tried to keep things as simple as possible this year and I think it worked well, I felt less stressed anyway! DC 1and 2 happy with their presents DC 3 is only 6 months so no idea what was happening but seemed to enjoy all the lights. We had FIL Christmas day and boxing Day - he only lives a couple of miles away but usually stays, he didn't this year and it was much easier!
Worst bit: we visited my parents after Christmas, my sister was also there with her DC - I think the children enjoyed it and my mum was pleased we were there but it was all quite stressful which was a shame.

DH and I have bought a ninja foodi instead of presents for each other - so far I must have misread instructions and incinerated some veg trying to air fry but I have great hopes for it!

Just want to get the decorations down now, it's all looking so cluttered, that's my job for tomorrow before DH goes back to work.

Hope you're feeling better soon @ShabsLovesTiff

Best bit: Christmas dinner / afternoon / evening at my sisters. Was the first time I'd been with extended family in a few years and the first family Christmas we'd had since our mum died. My sister did an epic job.
Worst bit: 9yo projectile vomiting just minutes into 2022. Carpet ruined and we had to spend our first hour of the year cleaning vomit. I'm an emetophobe so this ruined my mood.

On the upside once DC had puked everything up, he was grand. I was a tad traumatised Shock
