Non wired bras & big boobs!

ImHavingAnOldFriendForDinner · 02/01/2022 15:08

Does anyone with a fair sized chest wear non wired bras?

I'm a 40E (maybe bigger as I haven't been measured lately) and my god I hate bras, they are just so uncomfortable that I can't wait to take it off. I've seen the non wired ones online and they look so comfy but I'm wondering about the support as my boobs are heavy!

Any recommendations would be great!

I’m a 34j and I can’t stand non wired bras. I can’t find any that don’t give me a mono boob

Bagelsandbrie · 02/01/2022 15:33

I’m a 34GG and can’t stand wired bras. I’m going to be honest and say none of the non wired ones I’ve had have ever given me good support (well apart from Molke which are a total pain to get on and off) but I just accept comfort over support. I actually find sainsburys non wired crop tops / sports bras best.

BoodleBug51 · 02/01/2022 15:37

If a wired bra is uncomfortable, you're wearing the wrong size.

I went to an independent shop and was measured... for years I'd worn a 44DD but fitted properly, am a 38G. I can't tell you how much it's changed the comfort levels of what I'm wearing.

Soft bras just give me mono boob and a sweaty underband.

I'm a 38E and cannot wear underwired bras anymore after having gallbladder removed and awkward scar site.

I've found Rosie from M&S fit really well and are very comfortable, I have them in several colours. They don't give you that uniboob look either.

delilahbucket · 02/01/2022 15:40

You need to measure and check your size first. Try using Boob or Bust as a starting point.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 02/01/2022 15:44

Having been fitted, refitted and fitted again I don't like underwired bras. But unwired are good for nothing but walking the dog.

For a couple of years I've been using Panache Sports Bras, underwired, huge and relatively comfortable.

NorthernTights · 02/01/2022 15:45

I find the M&S flexifit non wired bras very comfortable. Also stepping into Molke bras makes them much easier to get on and off!

littledrummergirl · 02/01/2022 15:46

I'm a 38J and I've given up on wearing bras. They are so fucking uncomfortable.
If anyone finds something that stays on your shoulders, doesn't dig in, and makes your boobs stay put then please let me know. Oh, and if they can be either relatively cheap or last longer than a few wears before the weight of breast tissue starts to damage them that would also be fantastic.

ZoeTheThornyDevil · 02/01/2022 15:48

Have you tried well fitting, firm moulded cup bras? I'm not the same kind of size, but that's all I wear now, principally the Freya Deco unwired.

The right band size will be key for getting support from a non wired bra. What's your underbust measurement?

Mykittensmittens · 02/01/2022 15:50

Loathed to say it as I hate M&S wired bras but as a PP said their flexifit non-wired are very very good.

I’m a 36G and they are really firm and really comfy.

Divebar2021 · 02/01/2022 15:53

The M&S flexifit are comfortable but if I want good shape I wear the Freedom bra. Almost as good shape as a wired bra but still comfortable.

I am 44f and wear one from M&S that only has a very sort of soft wire in. After a couple of months the wires start to poke through and be uncomfortable so I remove them and have a lovely comfy bra !

user1471443411 · 02/01/2022 15:55

I agree with the Sainsbury's crop tops - I very rarely wear anything else. The ones I have are like this
crop tops

Non wired normal are the worst of both worlds as not as comfy as Sainsbury's crop tops, but still look horrible and don't do the job (leave a sweaty underboob).
If I have to look nice for something, I wear a wired bra just for a few hours, Rosie M&S or some Tesco are surprisingly comfy with a cotton lining.

APurpleSquirrel · 02/01/2022 16:01

I'm a 38F & wear these - a wireless bralette, it gives good support to me, some separation & are comfy:

minimecantrollerskate · 02/01/2022 16:01

I wear Triumph. They are heavy duty, but do the job. I have never worn underwired bras' they are so uncomfortable and have had several fittings in M&S and various department stores and none of them have been able to help.

Calicopromise · 02/01/2022 16:03

I swear by the Triumph Doreen. Maybe not the prettiest but it gives good shape and support.

greyinganddecaying · 02/01/2022 16:08

Royce Charlotte bras are the only ones I've found that give enough support without underwires.

Bananaman123 · 02/01/2022 16:08

I've started wearing these and am a 42h. They are comfortable and I tend to wear at home and dog walk etc. I still like elomi if going out as they lift a bit more than these.

ImHavingAnOldFriendForDinner · 02/01/2022 21:43

Thanks everyone going to sit down and have a Google in a minute but a lot of you have confirmed what I was thinking so I'm not sure a non underwired one will work but I guess I can give one a try.

I think I do need to get measured properly as the bands on my current ones are so tight but I'm not getting a lot of support in the cup.

Hate bras 😩😩

If a wired bra is uncomfortable, you're wearing the wrong size.

I used to believe this for years, but having been to approximately 500000 bra fittings in the past few years at every shop under the sun (including Bro, R&P, all department stores and independent shops), I have concluded that it simply isn't true for everyone, especially as we get older, and especially once you go above a G cup because once you go to GG or above, the sizing just doesn't work the same. By all means go to a fitting to get your overall size, but if you still find them uncomfortable, it doesn't mean you're doing it wrong. People can get obsessed with bra fitting to the point of mythology but it's just not for everyone. I wear a non-underwired bra for yoga and it's so much more comfortable.

ZoeTheThornyDevil · 02/01/2022 22:12

Yeah. I know how to measure myself. I wear a 28 back and my cup size has fluctuated from E-GG. But even bras in the exact right size with wires have always, always hurt me, because my ribcage is literally too small for flat wires, and they are always slightly too far apart in the centre creating a point of painful pressure and failed to curve around my ribs.

So I quit wearing them altogether, and now I wear wireless moulded cups (currently 28F) and am perfectly happy.

BoodleBug51 · 02/01/2022 22:16

Elomi are very good, as a PP mentioned.

I wear triumph minimisers the most though. Wires go right round the side so don't dig in.

IwillrunIwillfly · 02/01/2022 22:20

Before you spend money on new bras, I'd definitely recommend measuring yourself using the method on the boob or bust website. They have a Facebook page thats really helpful with lots of people having similar issues with trying to get a comfy bra! The most common problem is too big a band and too small a cup so it feels too tight, but it's actually just because you have breast tissue in the band space because it doesn't all fit in the cup.
Since getting my right size I've been very comfy in wired bras, but if you still prefer to try a non wired bra I've heard lots of good things about molke.

Nomoreusernames1244 · 02/01/2022 22:20

Shock absorber sports bras.

Never been able to find a comfortable wired bra, despite multiple fittings at multiple places.

Sports bras are comfy and hold everything in place, even in the gym. So I wear them all the time now.

I'm a 34J, and both the Curvy Kate and Bravissimo Nova are unwired and separate boobs.

The Nova in particular is so fucking comfortable.
