Non wired bras & big boobs!

ImHavingAnOldFriendForDinner · 02/01/2022 15:08

Does anyone with a fair sized chest wear non wired bras?

I'm a 40E (maybe bigger as I haven't been measured lately) and my god I hate bras, they are just so uncomfortable that I can't wait to take it off. I've seen the non wired ones online and they look so comfy but I'm wondering about the support as my boobs are heavy!

Any recommendations would be great!

Completely agree *tectonicplates
I’ve finally given up wearing wired bras except for ‘special occasions’ when I’ll only be in it for a couple of hours.
I laboured on trying to find my correct size and used the shop you mentioned since my late teenage years. Once I hit over an F my band just seemed to get tighter and tighter whenever I was fitted.
I now refuse to wear something that leaves me in agony (and yes it’s the size that comes up for me in the boob or bust calculator). I just reckon that my ribs are too big or something and it’s not worth the pain.
I now wear Sainsbury’s crop tops and yes I have a mono boob but so what, I don’t care and if others do that’s their problem!
I do have my eye on a Molke though as it would be nice to have a real bra that doesn’t hurt.

GettingStuffed · 02/01/2022 22:25

If you're uncomfortable then you may well be wearing the wrong size. Once you find a well fitting bra you don't notice you're wearing one. I'm a 38HH and for years wore the same size as you. Give boob or just a go and you may have a real surprise at the answer, likely to be smaller band bigger cup.

tectonicplates · 02/01/2022 22:25

I'm not a fan of Molke as I found it so difficult to get the damn thing off - I was seriously worried about injuring myself. They seem to have a cult-like following but I think they delete bad reviews.

Boob or bust

thecatsthecats · 02/01/2022 22:28

@Bagelsandbrie

I’m a 34GG and can’t stand wired bras. I’m going to be honest and say none of the non wired ones I’ve had have ever given me good support (well apart from Molke which are a total pain to get on and off) but I just accept comfort over support. I actually find sainsburys non wired crop tops / sports bras best.
I have to say, I think that there's a lot wrong with where we "expect" boobs to sit, especially big boobs.

As above, I'm a fan of the Nova. It doesn't shove my tits under my chin, but it holds them in a comfortable, natural position. As if my tits were naturally perfect, but not pushed up. I think a lot of bras attempt to force an unnatural position that we're conditioned to think is "right", hence the discomfort.

I gave up on Bravissimo clothes for this reason - the extra boob space was there, but was located somewhere around my collarbone. Not at, you know, chest height.

(and when it comes to support, I also find a bit of natural, gentle undulation fine, so long as they aren't bouncing all over etc)

whenwillthemadnessend · 02/01/2022 22:39

@Divebar2021

They are pricy. Do they really not give you a mono boob?

I'd pay if this is really true. I'm a 34f or g

Divebar2021 · 02/01/2022 23:31

@whenwillthemadnessend

I’m a 36F but was a G. They ( Freedom bra) give me slightly less boost than a wired bra but definitely not a mono boob. I also wear crop top types and the M&S flexifit and they definitely do give me a mono boob so I tend to wear only around the house. I agree they’re expensive so I only have one ( they’re not a big brand and female owned if that makes a difference)

Anordinarymum · 02/01/2022 23:36

I'm a 36G. The wired bras make the soreness under my breasts even worse and the non wired ones I buy don't give me a very good shape.
I find sports bras are the only answer plus they minimise which is good

TheBugHouse · 02/01/2022 23:38

36gg and I stick to fantasie. They stay on my shoulder and don’t dig in under my arm.
I always try loads in bravissimo but always end up sticking with fantasie. I’ve tried others and taken them back as high under the armpits.

Rizzoli123 · 03/01/2022 00:27

I'm a 38dd. Or a 40 e depending on where I shop. Alot of shops don't carry myself and there never pretty. I liked Debenham as they were the only ones that fitted well

I know it might be hard but what about making your own

olympicsrock · 03/01/2022 00:30

40DD and I wear M&S non underwires bras. They give you a really good shape and SO much more comfortable. I wouldn’t go back now.

Whenever I look at Molke they are always out of stock for me.

Any particular style?
whenwillthemadnessend · 03/01/2022 16:26

@Divebar2021
Thanks I might take the plunge and treat myself to one.

whenwillthemadnessend · 03/01/2022 16:27

@Divebar2021
Also are they true to size? Thanks

Bagelsandbrie · 03/01/2022 16:58

Molke are pretty good but you have to preserve with their sizing and keep trying different ones. I’m a 32GG so by their sizing charts I should be a small super but if I buy that size I can’t get the bloody thing on and off. Just so uncomfortable. Despite giving a great cleavage and shape etc. After a lot of playing with sizes I actually found a large cosmic the best size for me. But I still found myself not bothering to wear them after a while because they really are a faff to get on - I had to pull mine on from the feet up. (Some manage over the head but I couldn’t do that).

AColdDuncanGoodhew · 03/01/2022 16:59

34G and I wear the Sainsbury's DD+ comfort non wired bra. Its like a sports bra but soft and lovely. I have 4 of them and they're the only bras I wear now.

Same here. I love them.
Levriers · 03/01/2022 17:04

Try Royce Lingerie. All non underwired & go up to large sizes

1000umbrellas · 03/01/2022 17:16

I'm a 38H and wear these from Lane Bryant in the US. You can't run in them but supportive enough for everything else; I love putting them on and not giving them another thought until I take them off at night. I've kept a few of my underwires and invariably I drag one out if I'm dressing up for a party, night out etc., put it on and then go, nah, and put my Lane Bryant one back on!

blondiepigtails · 07/01/2022 17:35

Have a look at the Boob or Bust website or Facebook page and measure yourself. I always thought I was a 34DD (thank you M&S). Turns out I'm a 30G. I'm a tall size 12-14 and couldn't believe I could have a ribcage that small or that such a size even existed. Transformed my comfort and made me look about 10 years younger!

Mummabear89 · 07/01/2022 17:38

Have you tried measuring yourself using the boob or bust method? Also I highly recommend molke. I'm a 36LL/MM and their large thunder are good for me. I'm looking at trying some elomi's soon and going from there

GoLittleRockstar · 07/01/2022 17:45

38F. I find Falke Sports bras very comfortable as an everyday bra.

Needs to be one of the higher support double layer models like Versatility or Madison.

For exercise rather than everyday wear if I am going to do anything higher impact than yoga or Pilates I supplement with a boobandy.

But for everyday life they are so comfy and give reasonable shape/cleavage too.

GoLittleRockstar · 07/01/2022 17:48

@tectonicplates @Cannyshite

Totally agree. Boob or bust is way off in my case.

Privateandconfidentialplease · 07/01/2022 18:02

I wear a non wired m&s bra. I have for years and years. I am 42, have 2 kids and I don't really care that they look boring. They support my boobs and dont have annoying wires poking me. I say try a non wired over the shoulder boulder holder.
