iPhone Frozen!!

ForAFriend123 · 02/01/2022 11:56

Following a Facetime call this morning, my iphone 11 has completely frozen. Cant open apps, cant shut phone down.
Have tried a hard shutdown (volume up, volume down, then home button) but nothing.
On full battery so will take forever for phone to die.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to force a shutdown and restart my phone? Driving me mad!

Simultaneously holding the lock button and the home button is how I ‘hard reset’ any iPhones with a home button - have never heard of the volume up/down version. Maybe try that?

@babblingbumblingbandofbaboons

Have you tried calling it from another device (either call or FaceTime) incase it knocks or out of being frozen?

wevemadeitagain · 02/01/2022 12:24

Meant to say probably bit of a silly question above.

What model is it? Have you googled how to reset that model when frozen. The hard reset is different depending on your iPhone model. You may also need to hold the button for a lot longer than you would usually to restart it

WarmSausageTea · 02/01/2022 12:41

If you have no option other than to let the battery run out, can you turn the screen brightness to high and keep it illuminated? Also, my iPhone battery seems to run down faster in colder weather, so if you can’t change the brightness, maybe leave it somewhere cool.

This happened to my husband’s and he had to let the battery die, even after that it was stuck in a loop and he had to take it for a repair. Worth booking in now?

gluenotsoup · 02/01/2022 12:46

Yes, my iPhone 11 did exactly that. It would not respond to any reboots, nothing. I think it was something to do with being unplugged from the charger during an update. What worked for me was turning the torch on to allow the battery to die completely, then plugging in to charge to 100%, and it seemed to force it to switch off then on again. No problems since.

Will give it a go. Think I'll be waiting a while!

Me too. Ask someone to ring you. Phone will light up and then you need to turn the phone off and restart

ForAFriend123 · 02/01/2022 13:16

Will also let me access the camera from the home screen so will leave video recording

Have you tried face time

BluebellsGreenbells · 02/01/2022 13:20

I think this a an update problem - mine was ok once turned off and back on

JaneJeffer · 02/01/2022 13:21

Stick it on the charger and then press the buttons.

ForAFriend123 · 02/01/2022 13:55

Finally let me shut it down.
Restarted it and all ok 🤷‍♀️

Thanks all!

My 13 did this the other day md then it jumped back into life. I think it’s a software problem.
