I'm so ready for work on Tuesday.
I seem to of been off forever and while I was glad of the break. I've had enough now and need some routine.
Anyone else feel the same?

I'm not going back to work until February due to injury but can't wait for them all to go back to work/uni so I can be on my own in the day, cook in peace listening to the radio

x2boys · 02/01/2022 11:53

Yeah ,we have had a really crap Xmas due to both boys testing positive for COVID
I want to draw a line under 2021 and move on 🤣

Someonemustknowtheanswer · 02/01/2022 12:02

No. I wish I could stay off work forever.

tinkywinkyshandbag · 02/01/2022 12:07

Yes I am feeling ready to but my poor DH is quite gloomy about going back to work

Lansonmaid · 02/01/2022 12:08

@Someonemustknowtheanswer

No. I wish I could stay off work forever.
Me too, I really don't want to get the laptop out. I don't want to wish my life away but I am really looking forward to retirement in a couple of years time. If I could go sooner I would, even though my job is interesting and pretty well paid. I've just had enough of work!
Sandsnake · 02/01/2022 12:10

Not really! I’ve loved the holidays. Although I do need a) toddler DD to go back to nursery and have some time away from her brother and b) to start to eat / drink normally again before I expand to the size of a small house.

lollipoprainbow · 02/01/2022 12:13

Yes can't wait to get back to a routine!

DressingPafe · 02/01/2022 12:27

Nope, I’m not looking forward to it at all and I have a relatively easy job and part time hours. I’ve really enjoyed being able to just potter around, read, do projects etc. The older I get, the more I detest “routine”. I love the sense of freedom, of time being my own to do what I want with.

SirChenjins · 02/01/2022 12:30

God no. The thought of getting back on the insanely fast hamster wheel five days a week feels me with dread.

Scottishnewbie2022 · 02/01/2022 12:31

No I’d soooo happily stay on my sofa eating Pringles and watching movies FOREVER. Sad to be going back Sad

Deathraystare · 02/01/2022 12:33

Yep. Just had a 2nd negative result. I have been climbing the walls!!! Really missing work!

Matbest · 02/01/2022 12:33

I'm almost there... getting into the zone today and tomorrow by batch cooking to use up leftovers and sorting the house out. Decorations down tomorrow. But I have absolutely loved this Christmas and don't really want it to end!

Crinkle77 · 02/01/2022 12:35

I'm glad we can go back to normal in the sense that xmas is over and done with but not ready to go back to work. Just doesn't feel like I've had long enough off.

TheSunIsStillShining · 02/01/2022 12:47

I wish I had a break. WFH as a contractor. Only days off were 24th and 31st really.
Looking forward to the summer. I am going to be still FT working, but from a warm country with a patio and a garden and not a London 2nd floor flat.
And plan on taking 3 day weekends as there'll be the beautiful Julia Alps within 4-6 hours drive away.

TheSunIsStillShining · 02/01/2022 12:49

btw. thank everyone above that I have to wfh as I work for a company 1700km away. I hate offices. The gossip, the commute, the noise, the unproductive, endless meetings.....
(and this has nothing to do with covid, as I have been wfh on off for the past 20 years and love it. I know I am the unpopular one on MN.)

Waxonwaxoff0 · 02/01/2022 12:50

God no. I've been off work since the 23rd and I feel like I haven't made the most of it, it's flown by.

DS not back at school until the 10th so this week is going to be a bit muddled with me dropping him to various childcare.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/01/2022 12:57

Definitely. Waved the last of our adult dc off this morning, and now clearing away the decorations. I’m knackered, looking forward to going back to work..

Someonemustknowtheanswer · 02/01/2022 12:57

@Lansonmaid jealous of your couple of years to go versus my 40. Kill me now.

Maverickess · 02/01/2022 12:58

I'm looking forward to things going back to normal as in things running on normal timetables/, opening hours etc as it's just a bit of a pain in the arse when you work through and have to factor in different times to access things etc as well. Especially as I've done a fair few extra shifts over the period too.
I'm looking forward to my week off in Feb though and won't want to go back once that's finished!

etulosba · 02/01/2022 13:01

I retired early. No back to work for me.

devildeepbluesea · 02/01/2022 13:01

Can't wait to get the laptop out, hit the gym (not that I've stopped but it's not the same( and do some food prep

petalblossom · 02/01/2022 13:03

I have loved this Christmas but as with all Christmasses, once we have got past the new year stage I am ready to get back to normality, even if it is cold, bleak January! For me christmas is more about the run up in December than the full 12 days, once Boxing Day has gone I want to get back to my life. Saying that, I'm not looking forward to going back to work on Tuesday!

TooWicked · 02/01/2022 13:05

I"m ready to get back to work and start going out again.

I've been stuck in leading up to and over Christmas with covid and haven't wanted to go out since then because I'm self employed and having cancelled 2 full weeks of work before Christmas I can't now afford to get the non-covid cough/cold/flu virus that seems to be doing the rounds.

DS needs to get back to college too, he seems to be permanently lying down glued to his phone, laptop or TV.

Nidan2Sandan · 02/01/2022 13:05

Not really, the week back after xmas is always insanely busy at work. Wouldnt be so bad if I could just ease back in.

Plus, i hate doing school runs Grin getting the kids up and moving, making lunch boxes and racing to be out the door on time. Ugh.

Topsy44 · 02/01/2022 13:17

I’m not ready to go back to work but I don’t think I would even if I had 6 months off! I’ve loved being at home, pottering about with my DD, watching lots of tv and lazing on the sofa. Took most of the decs down and always feel sad that (a) it’s all over for another year and (b) means we’re back to the rat race and school run madness again☹️.
