Change phone sim/keep old number

I suffer from a medical condition that causes brain fog. I can usually work things out given time but this has me stumped and I feel so stupid.

I have a virgin payg sim which stops in a few days. I have an asda payg sim. I have a pac number from virgin. I am even confused in setting up the asda account to top up credit as it needs the phone number...but which one? The one on the new asda sim or the original one I want to keep?

Can anyone who has actually changed sims but kept old number please please give me step by step instructions, in the right order, on how to do this please?

Process above - it does say though that “ When transferring a phone number from a PAYG phone to another phone you will lose any credit you have on your PAYG handset as this cannot be transferred.”

So don’t add credit to the old number with Virgin x
