Really worried about my period

I'm currently having a period that is on its fourth week with a marked increase in pain and flow today Sad.
My nexplanon birth control implant was due to be taken out in November but hasn't been yet due to the clinic repeatedly having to cancel my appointment. Prior to this in the summer I was diagnosed with cervical ectropion. I had a horrendous experience having it biopsied with the results coming back normal with no cancerous cells.
My GP won't do anything and says it should stop on its own. I have horrible health anxiety though and am starting to worry the bleeding could be a sign of something more sinister.
Does anyone have any experiences with nexplanon running out/ heavy long periods. After a bit of reassurance really! Thank you

If your GP refuses to do anything maybe phone 111 for advice, it's what they're there for 😊

I was considering that but as I'm CV I'd really rather not go in to hospital or anything like that and im sure they would jusy refer me back to my GP. I'm sure it must be the nexplanon causing the issue but it will.not.stop. It's so frustrating.

helloclue.com/articles/sex/what-it's-like-to-use-a-birth-control-implant Hi op this blog might be reassuring? I’ve had really long periods but due to però menopause - our practice nurse did say they would prescribe something if it kept on so maybe this is an option?

AlbertBridge · 02/01/2022 15:41

I'm currently 5 weeks into a period. They've been getting longer, heavier and more painful all year. Saw a gynaecologist, had camera up there, plus two ultrasounds. It's fibroids. Having a hysterectomy sometime this year, fingers crossed.

But my Mirena coil is due out next year and my gynae suggested it might be causing the periods. Apparently hormonal contraceptives can cause long weird bleeds.

Have you had a scan? I'd push for one. I just rang up my GP and went full-on forceful, saying I refused to be fobbed off. 😆 it worked.

Oh, I meant to say - if it's lasted 4 weeks, could this new heavier/painful bleed be your regular period kicking in?

I'd actually not considered this for some reason. Due to the nexplanon I haven't had a proper period in 2 years but last night I had full cramps, so it could well be spotting and my normal period coming back.

About a year ago ( I’m 46 ) my periods just went on and on. The first time it lasted nearly a year. I was checked and nothing was wrong. My doctor said I was peri menopausal and the tables I was on wasn’t enough to keep it away. I switched and it was better. I would advise u to see another doctor.
