Anyone had this after booster?

Had the Moderna booster Wednesday evening, Thursday noticed a hard lump had formed under the skin and red mark, Thursday night couldn't even sleep as it hurt so bad, burning hot and painful, the pain is easing now and the lump has flattened somewhat but the red mark seems to be getting bigger, these are pics from different days, should I be worried?
Apart from the arm I was so ill Thursday! I was fine after my first two jabs but this one floored me

I felt rotten after mine, then developed the arm thing a couple of days later. I took an antihistamine and that cleared the arm up overnight.

Jerkface1 · 01/01/2022 22:04

Forgot to say that now the pain is easing but it's started itching loads and is red hot to touch. Will try antihistamine, thank you

Nope, but DD did after her preschool vaccinations. Apparently it's considered a fairly common response to vaccines in general and nothing to worry about.

Ignore the first photo. That's my rug!

ThirdElephant · 01/01/2022 22:06

Call 111 if you're worried though. Better safe than sorry.

Brilliant! If your arm looked like that, you'd need to be very worried! Grin

I didn’t get it when I had the booster but I did after my second vaccine. It was a common side effect called Moderna arm. My lump was massive, really hot, red and itchy. It disappeared after a week or so.

devildeepbluesea · 01/01/2022 22:08

Nothing like that but I do have a very swollen area on my collarbone which I'm presuming is related to the booster.

ItsSnowJokes · 01/01/2022 22:10

Covid arm. A very common side effect of vaccines.

FannyFifer · 01/01/2022 22:14

A local reaction around vaccination site is pretty common.

Jerkface1 · 01/01/2022 22:17

Thanks everyone, you've put my mind at ease

Yup very common. Mine looked just like the photos.

MichaelGovesBeard · 01/01/2022 22:54

Yep it’s covid arm. I had a visible egg lump and a hot itchy rash. The rash has left a mark on my arm that’s still visible a month later. I even took “it’s” temperature with a forehead thermometer gun thing - it was over 38° at one point. My actual temp was normal.

dnnvcariwoye · 01/01/2022 22:59

Yes OP I had exactly this with my Moderna booster. Red lump, sore and then went really itchy for a few days. I had mine about 2 weeks before Christmas and it took about a week to clear. It's completely back to normal now.

AllLopsided · 01/01/2022 23:04

Yes I had that after my Pfizer booster. Was very hot and itchy around day 3-5 (forgotten which was the worst day now). It started to go down after that but the lump was still visible for 9 days. Antihistamine, ibuprofen and constant ice packs helped.

tectonicplates · 02/01/2022 00:20

Yeah that happened with my Pfizer booster too. It didn't start calming down until the fourth day. Itchy too.

BeagleBeagled · 02/01/2022 01:21

Yes I did, I couldn't sleep very much one night the pain was so bad in my arm.

Thursa · 02/01/2022 01:33

I had that, Covid arm, it took up most of my upper arm and lasted about a month.

Cait73 · 02/01/2022 05:43

My arm was painful and solid to the touch for about a week

Justilou1 · 02/01/2022 06:04

Very common after a lot of vaccinations. I have had same after flu jab. (And looked like Thor for 48hrs as a well!)

Me too, after my first flu jab - it was quite dramatic!

Take antihistamine for a good few days.

CrystalFlower · 02/01/2022 13:23

I have just posted a thread myself about this, I had second dose pfizer and i have red round the injection site looks like insect bite infected. It must be a normal side effect from pfizer but if it keeps getting bigger etc just get checked for peace of mind. It is a worry when you have something new in your body as you never know how you will react to it. Best wishes
