Have you ever fallen asleep with a drink in your hand?

I passed out on my sofa after midnight still clutching a full glass of red wine. Woke up this morning with no spills, that's a winning start to the New Year 💪 Not sure how I kept it upright for 4 hours while asleep, I can barely go 5 minutes without spilling my drink on myself while awake 🤣

When I was severely anaemic, I fell asleep holding a hot cup of tea, spilled it and scalded myself 🙄

MissCalamity · 01/01/2022 18:31

I've took a tumble down stairs (in a club of all places!) and didn't spill my pint, back in the days when I was younger & flexible Xmas Grin

Alfixn · 01/01/2022 18:33

Haha I have done the wine glass trick before, didn't spill a drop, it was years ago but I'm still quite proud of myself

Marmelace · 01/01/2022 18:35

Oh I was in a pub in my younger years with my ex, it was rather rough to say the least. A fight broke out and someone threw the table in the air, drinks, ashtray etc flew everywhere, but I somehow managed in my slightly inebriated state to grab out pints. A few people were impressed 😆

Redcrayons · 01/01/2022 18:36

Yes, I too fell asleep on the sofa hiding a glass of red wine. Unfortunately I spilt it all over myself and woke up.

Fell asleep holding a glass of red wine. It flicked and sent red wine all up the white wall... OH not best pleased at having to repaint the wall.

mindutopia · 01/01/2022 21:16

No, mine don’t usually stay full long enough for long enough for me to fall asleep. 😂

ADialgaAteMyDog · 01/01/2022 21:20

DP once fell asleep with his hand on top of a cup of tea. Once I noticed and dithered about how to solve it, he jerked himself awake (the blood pressure thing) and a full cup of tea went EVERYWHERE

Rubyupbeat · 01/01/2022 21:25

I forever fall asleep on the sofa, tea in hand, and spill it over myself.

tiredanddangerous · 01/01/2022 21:38

I am impressed op!

My dad is no longer allowed to drink red wine anywhere other than at the table due to one too many falling asleep incidents and a ruined sofa Grin

I need to drink more quickly!
Deathraystare · 03/01/2022 08:19

Yes, though nothing to do with being drunk!

I often used to wake up at 5 in the morning, lights on, clutching a mirror in one hand, and in the other a cotton wool pad soaked in cleanser where I had made an attempt to clean my face before going to sleep!

I have that thing where you suddenly fall asleep (narco something) though don't get it much now.

thewhatsit · 03/01/2022 08:23

Yes! Once holding a glass of wine in the cinema (the type of cinema with a bar) I slept through most of the film. Didn’t drop the wine.

Giggorata · 03/01/2022 10:22

Yes, a few times, not particularly drunk but knackered. Occasionally not spilt it, sometimes red wine all over me, and the worst one was dropped it on a quarry tiled floor with two dogs in the room 😳

However, my best was years ago, falling asleep drunk in a hammock nursing a pint of cider on my chest, and waking some hours later with not a drop spilt!

DoodleBelle · 03/01/2022 10:24

Haha I can do this trick too! Only ever with red wine though…bizarre

kweeble · 03/01/2022 11:33

Yes - when exhausted with a hot mug of tea - I woke up sharpish as it poured over me - luckily there was no long term damage
