Help! 1st sick bug!

My 5 year old decided to bring in the bells by vomiting everywhere. I’m thinking we’ve been really lucky as this is literally the first time he has puked since he was a baby. He’s now spewed 4 times in the past 4 hours. I’m not feeling great as only just getting over a horrendous 48 hour bug myself.
Do any of you more experienced parents have handy hints on how best to deal with a Pukey child? He is non verbal, which makes nothing easier :(

Just solidarity from me. My 10 year old has vomited twice this evening :(

I don’t think I have any advice. Just try and keep them hydrated and hope they sleep it off.

When mine were younger and it was nighttime I would sometimes layer up towels underneath them so that if they are sick again you can just take a towel away and you don’t have to remake the whole bed.

Hope he settles down and you can get some rest soon.

Put a waterproof led night in a bucket near his bed (turned on). Massively improves vom aim.

Thank you - towel idea is genius. He keeps stirring and coughing but got nothing left to bring up. Should I try to encourage him to drink or just leave him to go back to sleep (which he is, thankfully)

I can only say what I'd do / have done and I'd let him sleep. When he wakes just give him tiny sips.

See that’s my theory as well, sleep is the best thing for him just now.

I feel like a brand new mum Googling everything! Was honestly convinced my child had a stomach of steel and not only had I got a sleeper, but a non-puker as well!

Wow, can't believe he made it til 5! Not sure I have any particular tips for right now but for once he's through it - keep an eye on how he does with dairy - DD got temporary lactose intolerance after both vomiting bugs that she's had and it took a while for us to twig that that was prolonging the vomiting. Probiotics helpful to sort her out afterwards.
