I'm going to Manchester soon for 4 days and not sure what the cheapest way to travel around is. So far the furthest I need to go is the Curry Mile from the city centre, so what is the cheapest way to get there? Ideally I would like a day pass so I could make as many bus journeys as possible, any idea how much this would cost?

Depends where you're staying?
If city centre then a day rider with stagecoach buses will be fine (£4) just ask driver when you get on the bus for this ticket.
If you're closer to Oxford Road end of town I would walk if the weather is nice

Thank you, yes it will be city centre, near the Arndale. So will that £4 enable me to get on any bus that day?

Yes as long as it's a stagecoach bus. For that area you won't have to wait long

Are the trams not running

DrivingHomeChristmas · 31/12/2021 22:32

The curry mile to city centre is one of the busiest bus routes in Europe - you will be fine!

Trams don’t run down there.

buckeejit · 31/12/2021 22:33

Bus is easy for there-plenty go that way. You can check bud numbers online & it's easy to find the stands at Piccadilly. I think the 101 is good but there will be plenty. Have a good time!

Loads of buses! Also quite walkable. I’d say arndale and curry mile some of the ugliest and most run down bits of Manchester! Go to northern quarter, spinningfields, ancoats, deansgate locks etc. maybe venture out to didsbury and chorlton if you have time. Piccadilly gardens is awful, don’t let that leave a lasting impression, Manchester is so much more than that!

Any bus daysaver is £5. That will get you all over.

massiveblob · 31/12/2021 23:36

Buses are cheap as chips and to curry mile area every 3-5 mins

massiveblob · 31/12/2021 23:37

If that's the furthest you are going then everything else is walkable

www.tfgm.com is the public transport info website for Manchester, it has journey planners & bus route info.
From memory I think any bus number in the 40s should take you to the Curry Mile (Rusholme) from Piccadilly Gardens
