Can anyone tell me about Kindle Fire 8 Kids Edition?

I need to get dc a tablet to do their primary school homework on - they used to use my old phone but it has finally given up the ghost. I don't want to spend too much and considering the Kindle HD Fire 8 kids edition.

I know the apps they need for the homework are available on the kindle App Store thing but not sure how limited it is for other things.

They like to look at toy shop websites (mainly the Lego store 🙄), watch YouTube and a couple of other open web things. Can I allow them to do specific things that the parental controls might automatically block?

Can they Google stuff on it? Or search the web in some other way? Eldest will be in Y6 next year and may well need to do some more involved homework projects than just the app stuff.

Can I give elder ones permission to certain stuff that is limited to youngest?

How old are they?

My older Primary aged children use adult profiles so they use the normal web browser. The kids bit and case was useful when 6 and younger. (These are earlier versions)

They are 7 and 10. Will they outgrow it too quickly? They are fairly clumsy so the toughness and replacement for 2 years if broken is a draw.

So would I need to give the older ones adult profiles in order for them to browse the web?
