I'm looking after my 8 month grandson part time from next week. I will also be walking my dog and we go off lead in the muddiest of places (mostly because she's not keen on strange dogs). DD2's pushchair is unsuitable. I picked up a second hand Icandy Peach jogger which is fab and comfy... but we have had quite a lot of SERIOUSLY boggy, cross field walks and somehow we have knackered the wheel/chassis.

DH has suggested we just buy a decent proper off roader. But which? Baby Jogger Summit? City Elite? OutnAbout Nipper? Mountain Buggy Terrain?

If anyone lives on a farm, or spends a lot of time in very muddy/rough places and takes a baby , please advise me! I can't just chuck him in a backpack carrier as my back isn't up to it for very long!

The Mountain buggy terrain. We take ours everywhere, onto second dc with it now and it's still going strong and looking good.
Suspension, adjustable handlebar, hand brake to take weight off when going down hills. Interchangeable seating/lying formats. Good under buggy storage with zippable cover so nothing bounces outs.
It has done all kinds of off-roading, running races, camping, multiple countries.
SIL is in Finland and she was delighted to find one over there!
Last night we ended up with the 4yo in it coming back from the fireworks, and the toddler in a back pack, and said for billionth time how glad we were that we chose it!

Spottygymbag Thank you... I've spent the evening comparing reviews etc, and have just ordered the MB Terrain. Much as the cost hurt me, I think the spare 16 inch wheels will help massively on our off roading walks, and while I know babyjogger are great, I think the MB has a slightly more upright seat (and bumper bar) and my little grandson likes to be up and seeing the world.

I think I've spent less on cars Grin!

I had an Out 'n' About for DS, it had big wheels like a kids bike and was the ugliest thing I had ever seen, but went everywhere.

DS is 17 now so it's a long time ago, but until a couple of years ago I still used to see it in the local area where it's on about it's 8th passenger Grin

We loved our Bugaboo & travelled extensively with it when dc was small

@StillMedusa congrats on your purchase- yes the price is a bit of a shock but you definitely get your monies worth! Mountain buggy also have good resale value too because they are so robust, even older models sell well.

We had an out and about nipper double when I had DS2 and it was good for the outdoors walks we did.

Moonopoly · 01/01/2022 10:25

Out and about nipper v4 is great. I had the double and it was so easy to push on every terrain

Charliesgotachocolatefactory · 01/01/2022 10:29

If you can find an older out and about nipper with the fixed front wheel, get that. We had DS halfway up mountains, along beaches, through forests in that and then when there were two of them, we got the double and it was just as good.

Rather than a pushchair, can you not get a backpack for him? Both of my DC loved being in theirs. Our dog didn't pull and was generally reliable though.

Cybex Priam - it can cope with anything!
