Starting this so we can keep track of the lovely New Year's resolutions @bellafrenum has given us.
Mine was to paddle in two oceans. We live nearest the Irish Sea but we are likely to visit Wales, Scotland or Devon/Cornwall this year so I can do the Atlantic.
I have a work site which is near the Indian Ocean where I have gone before to do training but that's not too likely to happen in 2022.. The nearest other ocean is the Arctic... Maybe I can wangle a trip to see the Northern Lights? It seems safer than going further!

Thank you for starting this. I loved the thread and have copied a list of all the resolutions.

However...I was given 'Say yes to everything'. As a people pleaser I have only just recently learned how to say no and to actually clock what I want to do, so the thought of agreeing to loads of commitments that drain me makes me feel sick. I won't be sticking to that NYR.

Your NYR is great @drspouse. I would love to paddle in two oceans. I read that as kayak paddling and think I might have a go at that.

The one I fell for was 'Build something from scratch.' I love the idea of doing this. DH built a cold frame this year and I was so impressed. Cut his own timber - everything. Not sure what to build yet, but I love waxing and varnishing furniture and redecorating rooms, so will have a think and make something for the house or garden. Any suggestions very welcome!

Mine was to find something to be grateful for each morning when I wake up. I started practising yesterday. So far I’ve been grateful for my eyesight (which enables me to enjoy the countryside I’ve only just moved to) and my lovely little house.😀

I think I’ll write them down each day, so I can be sure I’ve done it.

Paddling in the Arctic during the Northern Lights season sounds brrrrr yet brill!

So DS has expressed a wish to see puffins... I think we can combine that with the Atlantic.

Mine was:

Congratulations! You need to check in with yourself. Keep a weekly diary of your feelings - use voice recorder on your phone if you cba to write.

I felt it was very thoughtful and I'm enjoying it. Right now I'm feeling pulled in many directions; 3rd trimester, baby is eating all my iron so I'm v lethargic. Work feels never ending and nearly 3yo DD is already struggling with mummy being less available. But I'm also full up of love because DH is being a bit of a mega star looking after us all and getting some house projects done, DM is also being brilliant with DD and getting me breaks 💛💚💛

That sounds lovely!
I have made progress towards a trip with my DM to dip my toes in the Arctic Ocean... brrr....

🙂

That’s quick! Are you definitely decided on the Northern Lights trip?

This made me look up the original thread and read the suggestion to add the last two digits of your birthday year and then take that number as the resolution. Doing that I get either Paddle in two oceans or Enter a competition (depending on whether I go from the top or the bottom of the list).

I like both of them!

It's my mum's 80th this year and she is dying to go so it just seemed like a good time!
