How's your NYE looking?

Dh did a 'normal' food shop this morning (the Christmas food is finally pretty much gone) and I've spent a good hour cleaning out the fridge and kitchen cupboards. I've just finished and sat down with a coffee and a bagel.

Ds1 is still in bed and ds2 is mooching around in his dressing gown watching TV and playing on his phone. Dh and I are going into town to get some bits sorted in a minute and we'll drag the reluctant teens out for a walk this afternoon since the sun actually seems to be out for once.

We're at family friends' this evening for drinks and food - ds16 was making noises about doing his own thing but funnily enough no one's parents seem keen on a gang of teens in their house tonight, so I think he'll be with us as usual. The friends have dcs the same age as ours and we've been doing the same thing since forever so it should be ok.
How's everyone else's day panning out? I love reading these threadsSmile

We have friends arriving at lunchtime for a couple of nights. All LFTs negative.
We have cleaned the house, all tidy and food all sorted so just having a bath.
We’ll have a walk at the park this afternoon and then HM pizza, drinks and board games tonight. So glad to be able to do something social.

CharSiu · 31/12/2021 11:28

DS GF has covid unfortunately, we usually host a party but no way this year. So it will be just the three of us. We will all play an online game with friends for a couple of hours after dinner and then watch tv and drink champagne at midnight. Then MIL and SIL will call.

DH and I are out for a walk in about 30 mins as the sun is actually out. DS is still asleep but works a night shift so won’t be up till about 2pm.

Almost2022 · 31/12/2021 11:29

We have PILs coming to see the New Year in with us. We'll be ordering a Curry. Got Prosecco and Champagne at the ready. Just need to clean my floors and dust. Then can relax!

Your evening sounds fun op.

MinnieMountain · 31/12/2021 11:31

DS and I been out for a walk with friends whilst DH cooks.
We’re off for a bike ride for a few hours shortly. We’ll stop at the odd pub.
2 friends are coming over tonight.

ScouseQueen · 31/12/2021 11:34

Seeing friends this afternoon but then it'll be just us at home for NYE. DH is cooking and we'll have champagne and stay up. Hopefully!

Thorilicious · 31/12/2021 11:35

Vegging at home at the moment, will take DC and ddog out for a walk this afternoon.
We normally are in bed and asleep at midnight, but we will be up tonight, as there will be fireworks, and we want to make sure ddog is ok (it's his first NYE)

HelloCanYouHearMe · 31/12/2021 11:36

Me, DP and DS here... DP currently doing his hobby, DS watching YouTube and me doing the house work.

Tonight is take away, Cava and Cobra Kai

Mummydoctor · 31/12/2021 11:38

Currently spending the morning at an indoor karting track (children and husband’s christmas gift from my sister). Then off home to watch a film after lunch and prep for this evening. We have a couple of friends and their families coming round for party food and drinks. Will see if we make it to midnight, but that’s the plan!

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 31/12/2021 11:39

DH, me and adult DC were supposed to be going to a private event tonight, first time in years, we were really looking forward to it. All of us have bloody covid, so we’ll be at home. Have nice food and drinks in though, so that’s something

LeQuern · 31/12/2021 11:42

Home alone waiting for a PCR result.

Currently feeling rough & probably be asleep before midnight.

Geamhradh · 31/12/2021 11:45

Off to typical big Italian family NYE party this evening as usual. Minus DD who at 18 isn't with us for the first time. She's off in the north of Italy with friends.
Lots of fishy things, some of which aren't yet dead in my fridge which dp will do unspeakable things to later.
Happy New Year to all!

Sebastianthecoo · 31/12/2021 11:48

I have a day with nothing to do which seems like the first one this year. DC having a few days at grandmas, cleaned all the house yesterday so just enjoying the peace. Off for a nap shortly as nightshift tonight then a nice bath. It’s a lovely day after the madness of the last few weeks.

GinIronic · 31/12/2021 11:53

Sorting out the recycling. Food shop. Seeing in the New Year with my favourite brother and his lovely wife with plenty of gin, cocktails and champagne.

Salamander91 · 31/12/2021 11:53

We're waiting for PCR results so a quiet night in for us. The kids are excited they get to stay up late (ages 4,5 and 7). I'm going to order them ice creams from our local dessert delivery place as a treat and we'll play games on the switch and dance in the kitchen Grin

RainforestLizard · 31/12/2021 11:54

It's looking quiet. No plans at all. Which is nice as we were away for a few nights over Christmas. Just me, dh and two children later.

I did suggest to dh earlier that we invite friends around (who have no plans but he wasn't keen). Think we're going to play board games with DS instead.

MajorCarolDanvers · 31/12/2021 11:55

Hogmanay at my parents tonight with a dozen relatives. Steak Pie, lots of alcohol and maybe some boards games.

Outside to watch all the fireworks the Bells.

RagzReturnedUnwrapped · 31/12/2021 11:57

Supposed to be having a drink around the fire pit with our next door neighbours, but weather is looking shite. So not sure...
I'm not dressed yet, but going to take DD clothes shopping (help!) in a few hours.

Pascha · 31/12/2021 12:00

Dh too Ds2 to football earlier. We're just finishing off the last of the christmas cake before making some lunch out and a nice long walk. I've got gammon and chips for dinner later then a normal bedtime for everybody really. Dh has early training tomorrow and we live in the middle of nowhere so no specific plans.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 31/12/2021 12:02

Dog walked
Orders sent
Couple of invoices to do
Been to the shops
Need to change my bed
Lateral flow tests for all three of us and then pub for dinner

RunningKatie · 31/12/2021 12:04

DH is asleep in bed, DC are playing games, I'm sitting upstairs with a cold coffee.
This afternoon we are planning on sorting out DC1s bedroom, lots of things to move around after Christmas and they would never do it without encouragement and assistance!
Tonight DC are having pizza, then they are sleeping downstairs for the night. We never do much so it's nothing different to usual. Although if I didn't have a nasty virus and DC2 hadn't had covid I suspect we'd have been a bit more lively!

U2HasTheEdge · 31/12/2021 12:04

Today I am just relaxing, reading and crocheting.

Tonight we are going to a friend's house for pizza, drink and karaoke.

FingChristmasFamily · 31/12/2021 12:05

Looking very quiet here. We’re planning to head down to the coast for a New Year’s Eve walk, but I have covid, yay! So that put pay to that.

Today we will be mostly sitting around and eating.

cumulonimbus523 · 31/12/2021 12:08

Working all day today, will chuck it in at about 7pm and then will finish off cooking a few dishes for dinner and settle in with DP for the night for lots of lovely food and cava. Very excited, aside from Christmas itself I haven't had a single day not working all evening (including weekends) for about 6 months now.

FestiveFuckery · 31/12/2021 12:11

I'm currently working 😫 but after that hope to go out for a few drinks and back for cards/board games reasonably early. Maybe stay up and watch the fireworks in London or maybe asleep. The problem is most pubs around here seem to be closed as staff are either isolating or unable to get lateral flows to ensure safety.

mamaduckbone · 31/12/2021 12:13

Sorry to all of you waiting results / positive. We'll test later before we go out but fingers crossed all fine.
Your NYE sounds amazing @Geamhradh. I think this is the last year we'll have ds1, and that's only because there's nothing better on offer - it's a bit strange to think of it.
