A thread to support each other in our New Years Resolutions

Come one, come all. Hear ye.

No matter what your resolution is, big or small, feel free to check in and support each other in theirs and your own, for however long you manage to keep it up for.

Mine (decided mid december when I was basically drinking Prosecco and wine every evening "because its christmas") is no Prosecco or Wine in 2022.

Not no drink at all, just those drinks.

I'm nervous that I cant at least even try to stick to it, wouldn't class myself as alcohol dependent but definelty enjoy the taste of a glass of wine and the signal that its bearing the end of the week day

Who knows how long it will last!

Great thread!
Mine is to get fitter.
I actually went to the gym today.
I was seriously unfit after breaking my ankle and piling on a lot of weight!
I have been losing weight and going to the gym since Jan 2020 (had to exercise at home in lockdowns). I feel so much better. So much stronger. I want to keep going down the scales and up the fitness Grin
Heavier weights are my goal this year. And if they finally open up for swimming lessons, then learn to swim.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 30/12/2021 22:33

That's a good one. I always feel invigorated after a walk or swim, but find dragging myself on them to be an almost insurmountable challenge (aka laziness Grin)

After a whole day at work, and then cooking and tidying, it requires resolution indeed!
When are you starting? After the New Year celebrations or before?

Oh god 1st Jan!

I'm home with covid at the moment and tonight's the first time I've felt well in a week so I defienlty want one last drink of fizz before the new year starts.

I cant decide if I'll allow myself to add wine to risotto/ spaghetti bol etc or if that's also not allowed but I suppose it's probably fine as I'm not sitting down to a glass of it (and I dont want less tasty food of course).

One last day of the year, I cannot believe it. I will stay up to see the fireworks at 12, and have a cheeky drink too!
There is no alcohol left if you use it in cooking, and I love the flavour it gives to the dishes.

liliainterfrutices · 30/12/2021 23:19

Yes please. I have to lose 5 stone this year and sooner rather than later. I’vebeen dieting for about a week, so a bit of a headstart.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 30/12/2021 23:50

Mine is dead easy.

No more buying clothes for me or the DC with glitter or sequins.

It never occurred to me until I read last month that these don’t degrade in the same way as the rest of the garment, and so are really unsustainable.

So no more. Dd can no longer dress like a toddler Shirley Bassey.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 31/12/2021 08:46

Sequin reduction is a great idea! If dd is young enough, snip the sequins off outgrown clothes and add them to the crafts box for future use.

lilia good luck on the weight loss. How was the first week been?

I'm having my last drink of prosecco for a good while yet (obvs aiming for as long as possible).

Rewatching The Crown as an accompaniment to it.

Happy New Year!
Aiming to stick to the meal plan today!
Not possible yesterday, as nothing went as planned and I did not have lunch at home.
And going for a long walk today is the goal.

Thank you! I don’t mind not eating too much and have done 10000 steps on two days, but dared to venture on scales andit’sworse than I thought .. .

Good thread , mines to get fitter I ran a lot at the start of last year because of lockdown and it’s derailed slightly and I’ve put weight on . I’ve been running a few times this week while off work and I’ve really enjoyed it so I plan on building up to 10k again and I’d like to be half marathon ready by Christmas that’s the dream . I haven’t told anyone as not sure I can do it but it would be a huge achievement for me .

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 03/01/2022 14:20

I wish I could run. I tried it at the start of ast year - good old couch ti 5k and it was just so boring

I'd like to join if OK?

I saw a tweet that made me really think. If you keep using the same ingredients, you'll always bake the same cake. 2021 was rough but I need to change some habits to have a better 2022

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 03/01/2022 21:27

Oh that's a good phrase!!
