I’ve been gifted a bottle of this directly from Belgium. Although it’s classed as a gin, it tastes awful with tonic. It tastes more like a whiskey (which I don’t usually drink). Does anyone have it and love it and can tell me how to drink it?

Have you tried lemonade? I despise tonic and always drink gin with lemonade.

Dare I suggest, if it's that grim, with coke/cherry coke?

Genever - according to my greatgrandfather from "Genever country": do not mix it with anything, just drink it

If you want to mix it, ginger ale or bitter lemon are better options than tonic. You need something with more flavour!

Traditionally though, jenever is drunk neat, often alongside a beer.

Jesus. I think it’s going to kill me.
