Light hearted thread but as the title asks are you utterly talentless like me lol ? I would love to start a new venture from
Home albeit and online side earner typos thing but.... I literally am useless lol I have no qualifications, no money to start a course, no education, can't cook/bake, crap at art, not musical, no real hobbies or interests. Is there anyone else out there like this? All my friends are highly educated with degrees in high earning fields ( doctors, dentists, solicitors etc) I am the only person I know that is rubbish at absolutely everything. What on Earth coukd I do lol

That's called having a fixed mindset. You probably find if you tried to adopt a growth mindset that you might get somewhere.

Dedicate a portion of your day to a new venture that doesn't cost money or can cost very little money: reading, walking, writing, gardening, blogging, photography, free online courses, listening to music, from reliable websites google an academic topic to learn more about it.

Your options are limitless. Your excuses don't have to be.

Anyone else utterly useless?

Oh I like you already! Thanks for the response! I guess there is so much choice it's probably a lack of confidence that holds me back (as nothing I've ever done turns out the way I plan 🙈)

I bet you are a brilliant friend and therefore I bet you have great interpersonal skills, and therefore you have excellent career potential.

Thank you for this, because I feel exactly the same way, and so often feel like it's just me. Also, thank you to PP about fixed mindset, and growth mindset, I'd forgotten about that. I think I've moved to a fixed mindset, and need to move back to the growth. . .

rollonlotteywin · 30/12/2021 18:14

I definitely have developed a fixed mindset and I know it's only myself that can change that. I've never been a very confident person ( always wanted to be) going to look into some new things and see what I can find x

You are certainly disarmingly frank, which is a quality shared by very few. Be proud of that.

You are probably good at something, but even if you are not, so bloody what? The world is full of people with no discernible talents or skills. Look at poor old Dominic Raab.

I’d say that 40% of the people I’ve worked with during my (longish) career haven’t been much good at anything, but they were still living their lives happily. Not everybody has to shine. I’d have welcomed more people like you, rather than talentless plodders desperate to show me how great they are and why their (absent) fine qualities needed to be discovered.

A new series of The Apprentice starts imminently. Watch that and feel reassured.

I’ve thought of another one. Watch ‘Britain’s Most Expensive Houses’ then tell me, with a straight face, that you couldn’t do better than that shower.

Op, you're being too hard on yourself! You sound lovely.

So, sounds like you should definitely work with people...

Have you done one of those 'what's my ideal job?' Questionnaires online?

I can relate to you op! 'Everyone' seems to have some shiney talent or other. I'm yet to discover mine. I live in hope but in the meantime I'm just muddling through.

You do sound lovely. I imagine people enjoy being around you Smile
