This year we had a toddler and a kitten along with the Christmas tree and I am so pleased to be able to actually relax in my living room again

Exactly why ours was down before lunchtime on Boxing Day 🤣

MelonTits · 30/12/2021 14:28

YANBU at all - my kitten is now an older cat but the first couple of years were a nightmare. Toddler in comparison has been a dream with it!

DH has taken the kids to the supermarket (? I wasn’t going to tell him this was an awful idea, just waved them all off…) so I did it while they were out to avoid the moaning 😂

Nice.
I’m sneakily taking them down so DS doesn’t object. He can have the Christmas tree until 2nd January.

5thnonblonde · 30/12/2021 14:47

They’ve come home and been immediately distracted by an offer of smarties and a film. If I play this right it’ll be ages before they notice and I’ll be in the clear!

😁. Mine are adults now and I don't put any decs up at all. They don't mind and I feel so much more relaxed knowing I'm not under any pressure to turn my house into Santa's grotto.

Mabelface · 30/12/2021 15:01

Mine's just come down as I couldn't cope with the clutter any longer! Also putting the room right whilst eldest son is out.

itspartytime · 30/12/2021 15:03

I've made a start but DH wants the trees ( two of them ) to stay for a bit longer. Our lovely cleaner is going to help me do a monster cleaning session when the trees go, so I have that to look forward to, then we'll celebrate with a rather large Bloody Mary each! ( she will be dropped off and collected by her bf that day ) that, to me, signifies the start of the new year and end of Christmas. We do it every year!

Bluntness100 · 30/12/2021 15:09

I’m keeping the majority of mine up but I took the tree down in the second living room yesterday as I’m turning it into a bedroom tomorrow as I’ve a house full for New Years, but I left th fire place wreath up in there, it’s twinkly and pretty for the person who will be sleeping in there. The tree would’ve been fine to be honest, I just felt like getting it done.

I also took the stair wreaths down at the same time, and took th cards down today, and the Christmas signs/ornaments, down also , so the front door wreath, the fireplace wreaths , the nutcracker men, and the Christmas tree in the main living room staying up, but that’s all.

Just makes it all a bit tidier taking the other stuff down.

5thnonblonde · 30/12/2021 15:22

The house was feeling very small with all the new toys and bits- moving the uncluttered feel and extra space!

Around the 12th iirc, my youngests birthday is beginning of December so we didn't put anything up until the weekend after that

Tippexy · 30/12/2021 16:46
Sad
Yummiliscious · 30/12/2021 16:51

How early can the excessive amount of toys from relatives go to the charity shop ? Grin

sofakingcool · 30/12/2021 16:55

I'm itching to take ours down, holding out till either Sunday or Monday though

Madbadandusuallysad · 30/12/2021 18:47

Ours came down today (whilst I was at work so got out of that chore), its usually taken down on boxing day so it had a good run this year

5thnonblonde · 30/12/2021 18:54

Ours still need to go up in the loft but from experience I leave the boxes out a day or 2 so I can discover the decs I’ve missed
