People who like NYE…what do you do if just the 2 of you?

Coz covid plans to go out to restaurant have fallen through. We could go the 2 of us, or ask PIL to come round , or we could stay in.

What do you do if you like NYE but just the 2 of you.

We’d normally be out or have friends round….

Cook a nice meal, watch a film, in bed before midnight has served us well for several years. We’ve gone away for a night or two some years.

It's me and 13yo DD here, so not a couple, but we watch favourite films until the midnight countdown/fireworks etc on the TV, and play board or card games. We have got some party food to have our own mini buffet. We haven't been invited anywhere this year.

Me and DH always have a nice meal in and DC a sleepover (with pizza) (alternating with a friend)
But this year DD is 16 so we have had a delightful twixtmas 'discussing' her NYE plans and it looks like I will be chauffeur on NYE this year

We have always gone out or hosted a party here previously, but no plans for this year as we weren't sure it would be allowed.

We are going to have a really nice meal and watch a film. We probably won't last til Midnight!

copernicium · 30/12/2021 10:07

Just me and two teens. We've been gradually approaching midnight all week, with the ever extending lie ins, so we'll still be up. But that's it really, watch the fireworks and go to bed.
We'll spend the evening watching a film, having a buffet and playing games.

Sunsetsupernova · 30/12/2021 10:09

Last year we made cocktails, had a 3 course M&S dinner and then played games.

Could you get a last minute hotel booking? Judging by how many people I know who have caught Covid over Christmas, there must be loads of cancellations happening.

AuntieMarys · 30/12/2021 10:09

Just another evening to us. I'll cook a nice meal as I always do, bottle of wine, we will watch Netflix and be in bed by 10. I hate the idea that we should all be out carousing because it's TRADITION.

BoodleBug51 · 30/12/2021 10:11

It's one of our DC's birthdays, so we celebrate that rather than NYE.

I'm normally in bed with the dogs by 10pm and DH sits up to watch the London firework display.

36degrees · 30/12/2021 10:15

We can see the fireworks at a local public display from our window so we usually stay up for that, but I don't think it's on this year. Might do a new years zoom with friends but that might make me sad so I don't know. I miss NYE nights out of my younger days but also it's too bloody cold so I am happy to stay home.

Planning a taco feast, some grapefruit margaritas, and I've bought a pub quiz game for us to play. We will be in bed at 12.01 no doubt!
