How to loose tummy fat

pairsinparis · 30/12/2021 09:05

I'm 5'4 and over the past four years have put on four stone. I absolutely need to make a change. I'm unfit, and find running really difficult. I used to love it and used to be good at it.

I plan to calorie count to loose weight and manage portion control better. What exercise would be best for fat burning?

Thank you in advance

This sounds like me too. Following for any tips too. My gut is horrible. Going to start running again too.

Running was really useful for me to reduce Tummy fat I swim a lot and that's great for arms and legs but does nothing for my tum

I hate it too but used couch to 5k and that really helped. Need to get going again soon as well. Getting older sucks.

I didn't start seeing improvement until I was about half way through the programme. Btw

I might try couch to 5k too. I started it a few years ago and actually found it quite tricky lol but will give that a go. I was hoping someone was going to come in and suggest a miracle YouTube workout lol

I dont think there is a way to lose fat in specific areas. You just need to do any cardio to lose fat overall and reduce calories so being in a calorie deficit. Sadly I am no good at portion control or limiting calories.....

I know building muscle (strength training) needs calories (i.e. burns calories) so you can afford to eat a few more calories so maybe cardio and strength training together is an idea.

The first 3 runs are hell if it's been years but once your over the hump it is better and I just repeat a week if I don't feel ready to step up to the next level.

It's really is a very good programme.

Does 1200 per day seem about right? I followed that in the summer before my holiday and lost a stone and a half

Vinyasa yoga (lots available on YouTube but might be good to start with a class) does a lot for the whole body. Good to pair it with some cardio like running. Always nicer to mix up exercise in my view as it's less boring than always doing the same thing.

TulipsGarden · 30/12/2021 09:54

1200 isn't enough unless you're very tiny. It's what MyFitnessPal gives everyone as a target, and of course you'll lose weight, but it's not sustainable.

Google how to work out your TDEE, that will give you a more manageable calorie amount.

I found the videos by this online trainer helpful when I wanted to lose weight and tone up the flabby bits especially my stomach. www.youtube.com/channel/UCag7XoiJLutjBTsM0tAzUzg
the exercises are mostly 7 minutes, but do need to be done every day, she sets 7 day challenges and makes specific exercises for different bits of the body.
