@TyneTeas

I just mean a small amount of Bailey's, I am definitely not intending on seeing if Viennettas can float...
I was not judging. Just got wondering if I go to Iceland today will my Vienetta melt on the way home. 🤔
labazslovesliving · 30/12/2021 10:19

a black forest style one? Banoffee style one or Missippi Mud pie style maybe but never seen pineapple one; would love that it's so hard to get anything pineapple. Pineapple yoghurts are as rare as hen's teeth. A Baileys one would be good too

Well hello there! Grin

Have you ever watched a video of vienetta being made in the factory? Pure magic

Zorya · 30/12/2021 17:51

Love this thread. Grin We always have it for Xmas pudding, with cream poured on top so it goes solid. I remember a biscuit one (which I just had to google to make sure i wasn’t making it up!). That was so yummy. Might have to add baileys to our Yule log one from this year!

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads

Now then. I like that. We had the Yule log vienneta as our Christmas pud alternative. My DC (like my MiL!) are under the impression that Viennetta is the fanciest pudding in the world.
Well they're not wrong are they?

Although you have to have the mint one, for proper sophistication, like.

I have, they are hypnotic Grin

(although there is a distressing one where you see ones that don't make the grade just get shovelled into a binShock

Oh man - I ordered one of these and Sainsburys didn't have it when I collected my order. Just got over the disappointment and now you bring it back...Wink

I haven’t had Viennetta for years and now I really want some!

DroopyClematis · 30/12/2021 18:09

An After Eight you say?
Heathen.

The soft gooey mint filling has now become a vile solidish fondant.
Get ye to Morrisons or Tesco for a box of one their own brand mint thins... After Eights of old.

Starcaller · 30/12/2021 18:13

We've got a mint one to see in the new year Grin

TyneTeas · 30/12/2021 18:15

There wasn't any in the usual place at the supermarket today and I feared I had perhaps caused a run on them, but thankfully then located some on an end freezer

I have a confession, it was actually an own-brand after-dinner mint thin

(I just said after eights as easier to type and for UK based people to know what I meant)

We had the Yule Log one this year.

I have never had so much expectation smashed in one small mouthful.

It was basically just the usual Vienetta but with chocolate ice cream. I think I must have imagined it encased in chocolate all the way round, or something. Just something more than just chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla. I mean. Why not call it chocolate viennetta and be done with it but no, call it Yule Log and give me hope.

FindingMeno · 30/12/2021 18:29

I'm eating the yule log one as I type- and it's bloody gorgeous

LaQuern · 30/12/2021 18:30

I'm married to viennetta hater.

Should I LTB?

Alayalaya · 30/12/2021 18:34

I remember a Neapolitan Viennetta which was amazing. It doesn’t seem to exist any more.

FindingMeno · 30/12/2021 18:37

@Alayalaya it does, you'll be glad to hear!

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 30/12/2021 18:38

I don't believe we have ever had a pineapple one, I think this thread is being trolled.

Appleseesaw · 30/12/2021 18:42

I vaguely remember a pineapple one. At least I think I do. I definitely remember a biscuit one. I used to like eating it layer by layer. There was a very precise way I used to approach it.

TyneTeas · 30/12/2021 18:46

I reckon a lemony one could be rather nice, with sorbet and lemon curd rippled through

OP posts:
Eminybob · 30/12/2021 18:50

Google can’t find mention any any pineapple one. I remember the lemon one though that was nice.

Didn’t know about the Yule log one, hopefully I can get one for NY. With Baileys Smile

Pucarbuile · 30/12/2021 18:52

I haven't had a vienetta in years. Might need one to get me through isolation. Or a Romanitca. Dh used get romantica for dessert when he cooked dinner when we started dating... love's young dream.
