Recommendations for dark chocolate please?

Hi all,
Any recommendations for some really delicious dark chocolate? Ideally fair trade. I don't mind paying a little extra if it's worth it. Chocolate is of my few luxuries in life but recently discovered I can no longer have dairy. Aldi/Lidl is okay as a go to but I really want something that feels more of a delicious treat to myself.

I’m not a big chocolate person myself but Lindt dark chocolate + orange or dark chocolate + caramel are nice.

Not keen on Green and Blacks but they do a spiced dark chocolate called Mayan Gold.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 29/12/2021 17:19

Lindt here too

MickyBlueEyes · 29/12/2021 17:22

If you want real quality, try a good bean to bar like Pump Street Chocolate… also do look at cocoa runners as the have very good quality bean to bar chocolate.

I'm loving the Divine 70% one at the moment. Much more flavour than Lindt.

Quite a few brands do nut based non dairy milk chocolate too these days if you can eat nuts (and like them!). The plant based Dairy Milk is genuinely quite nice (though not fair trade).

winolady · 29/12/2021 18:18

Not quite dark but Cadbury's Dark Milk is wonderful 😋

WouldIBeATwat · 29/12/2021 18:25

I’m a dark chocolate snob.

I love the Moser Roth 85% from Aldi, 100% from Hotel Chocolat and the Godiva 90%.

Lifeboats2022 · 29/12/2021 18:41

Lindt dark with hazelnuts in.

WouldIBeATwat · 29/12/2021 18:43

@Lifeboats2022

Lindt dark with hazelnuts in.
That’s only about 50%…..
JamMakingWannaBe · 29/12/2021 18:47

I normally have Lidl but I recently bought Tesco's own 70% and it was lush.

Montezumas dark chocolate buttons are great and I imagine the rest of their range is too.

HermioneWeasley · 29/12/2021 18:49

Leonidas

Sainsbury's do a Ugandan dark chocolate which I love. About 90% cocoa and reasonable price.

Rbaby · 29/12/2021 19:19

I love Lindt dark with salt in!

StrawberryFizz26 · 29/12/2021 19:19

Green & Blacks salted caramel.
It's bloody delicious.

Funnylittlefloozie · 29/12/2021 19:25

Tony's Chocolonely is amazing. They do a plain bar, or a dark chocolate with almonds which is gorgeous.

Hedonism · 29/12/2021 19:30

The lindt with sea salt is lovely, but not very high cocoa content and tastes really sweet after you get used to the stringer stuff.

Montezuma chocolate buttons are fab.

starfishofbethlehem · 29/12/2021 19:34

Montezumas (but NOT the 100% which is foul) also Seed and Bean

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 29/12/2021 19:34

The Co-op's own brand 85% dark is delicious.

Berlinkreuzberg · 29/12/2021 19:35

There's a great column in the guardian called notes on chocolate where the journo tastes different brands of chocolate. Some are a bit spendy but not all.

HelenaJustina · 29/12/2021 19:36

Tony’s chocoloney is fab
Aldi’s Moser Roth dark is nice
The G&B’s Mayan Gold mentioned above is delicious but can be hard to find

Chewbecca · 29/12/2021 19:41

I usually choose the Lindt with chilli. I love it and find I can manage to eat just one square.

missbunnyrabbit · 29/12/2021 19:42

The only dark chocolate I like is Lindt. I like the 90% the best!

urbanbuddha · 29/12/2021 19:42

The Waitrose own brand dark chocolate bars are good.

actiongirl1978 · 29/12/2021 19:44

I eat
Moser Roth 85%
Tesco 85%
Chococo 80% buttons (spendy)
Hotel chocolat 90% slab

If I am unable to get to aldi, I can go for the Marks and Spencer 80% or the coop 85%.

The godiva has added tastes like vanilla, I prefer my chocolate simple.
