Got a Kitchenaid Ice Cream attachment but bowl doesn't fit in freezer

I know this is a first world problem but I'm so disappointed. I was gifted the ice cream maker attachment for Christmas and it says the bowl has to be frozen for 15 hours before use. It is quite deep, and obviously not pliable at all! And it doesn't fit in any of the 3 compartments in my freezer! I don't know whether to give it back to the person who gifted it to me, or if there's a fix around it. I don't really want to try things if they won't work, as once it's been used it can't be returned. Does anyone know of another way of using it that will work?? I am wondering if I put it in an insulated freeze bag with lots of ice would that have same effect??

Can you take a drawer out? Sometimes those few centimetres of space allows it to fit ( well, mine anyways)

I take the bottom drawer out to fit mine in

Ooh what a good suggestion! I will go and try that and report back. Fingers crossed!

We have this and we have the best results when we refrigerate the mixture we’ve made and get the bowl out of the freezer at the very last moment and then quickly put the cold mixture in. We bought an ice cream boom for recipe ideas.

Thanks I'll do that, keep everything as cold as possible 👍🏻

Just in case there are ice cream lovers who don't have a machine. I do a mean Eggnog Ice Cream and it requires no machine. Make a thick custard (with a load of booze in it!), whip double cream, fold in and freeze.

MrsTerryPratchett do you mean custard from custard powder? And booze suggestions?

Heaven forfend!!! Grin

Proper egg custard, a mixture of rum, brandy and whiskey and don't drive after licking the spoon.

Thanks but oh dear I will have to look up how to make egg custard. A New Year challenge!
