Would you spend £95 on a purse?

I've fallen in love with a leather purse in the sale £95 reduced from £190
I'm tempted but so soon after Xmas gifts I'm not sure if I can justify it.
Would you?
Is it too expensive ?

I don't even know how to use Apple PayConfused
I always use a purse as I keep credit/debit card /driving licence and numerous store points cards in so it deffo will get used

My Mum bought me an expensive (to me) purse once. It was a leather Fossil one.
I've used it every day since and still am.
It's 11 years old.
Go for it!!!

If you like it, why not?!

If it's good quality it will last and feel worth it. I bought a lovely purse about 10 years ago now, use it every day and it doesn't look worn out or any different to when I bought it. It was £28, which felt like a lot of money to spend on a purse to me at the time. I still love it and won't be buying a new one any time soon.

furbabymama87 · 29/12/2021 08:47

It would be too much for me for just a purse, but I'm not well off. I'd only justify it if I loved it and even then I'd probably talk myself out of it. But if you can afford it, then of course you should get it and treat yourself.

ParkheadParadise · 29/12/2021 08:49

Yes, I would.
I bought my Sister a Ted baker purse for her birthday it cost £110. It still looks brand new several years later.

userxx · 29/12/2021 08:51

Treat yourself. A good purses will last years.

lateSeptember1964 · 29/12/2021 08:53

Definitely a good purse last years.

IKissedSantaClaus · 29/12/2021 08:54

I bought DH a wallet from Ekster this Christmas which was about £100. It is rather lovely and I'm hoping it will last for years. It felt like a lot but it is amazing quality.

Some things are worth paying for if it means it will last.

HolesInMySocks · 29/12/2021 08:59

No personally I wouldn't.
I rarely use a purse as both my bank cards fit in the back of phone case.
I only take a purse if have my handbag with me. Which again isn't often as always throw my stuff in changing bag.

But if it was something I used often and multiple cheap purses fell apart I'd consider it.

My current purse my ds got at a bootsale for 10p. River Island one. Bnwt. About 4 years ago

Missey85 · 29/12/2021 09:05

Buy it as a gift to yourself and real leather will last forever so you'll always use it

Wolfiefan · 29/12/2021 09:11

I bought a Ted Baker one that looks as good as new still. Not sure how many years I’ve had it. Cheap ones soon get wrecked. And don’t make your heart lift every time you see them!

Mummyoflittledragon · 29/12/2021 09:18

I spent that on a purse and used it for well over 10 years. Dh and dd bought me a new, cheaper one a couple of years ago as I fancied a change. The original one is still in vgc. So yes, I absolutely would.

NameChangeCity123 · 29/12/2021 10:06

Treat yourself! I'd rather spend on something like that that is used pretty much daily than something 'special' to only use on occasion

TheCreamCaker · 29/12/2021 10:09

Personally, I wouldn't but then I never spend much on myself (I certainly couldn't afford it)

EmmaJR1 · 29/12/2021 10:18

I have a Leather wallet that cost more than I would normally spend and it looks new still. It was a gift but I would certainly buy a more expensive item again.

It's more economical in the long run.

purplemunkey · 29/12/2021 10:22

Yes, I would. I bought one that was about £80 in the sale a number of years ago. No idea what the original price was but must have been over £100. I still love it, it still looks great and has probably lasted 10 plus years so far.

StCharlotte · 29/12/2021 10:24

Purses are strangely expensive aren't they? But you definitely get what you pay for.

I used a Laura Ashley leather purse for over 20 years as it looked like new and I could never see anything I liked better until I went to Italy and bought one there with Christmas money for €100 in a sale. That's been going for six years so far and the Laura Ashley purse still gets used for holiday money.

HannahinHampshire · 29/12/2021 10:28

I treated myself to a £150 Mulberry purse for my 50th birthday. I’m now 62 and the purse is still looking good!

NalPolishRemover · 29/12/2021 10:49

Yes I absolutely would. I would far prefer one good thing that I really love than 10 cheaper things that are only ok. I've always been like that though

Buy it, use it, enjoy it OP. It's ok to treat yourself too once you're not going into debt to do so.

Far too many women on here post stuff about never spending much on themselves & even if they had the money they wouldn't spend it on themselves & that always makes me sad to read. We deserve nice things too!

HunkyPunk · 29/12/2021 10:53

I wouldn’t personally spend that much on a handbag, let alone a purse, but if you love it and can afford it, buy it!

Hoppinggreen · 29/12/2021 10:54

I spent over £100 on a Ted Baker one 3 years ago and it still looks good and people comment on how nice it is

FluffyBooBoo · 29/12/2021 10:55

I wouldn't, but I'm just not that interested in purses and bags.

But if I was and I loved it I would buy it.

MrsDeaconClaybourne · 29/12/2021 10:56

If you can afford it, I definitely would. It's something that you use loads and so would give you a little bit of joy every time. Things like that are the sort of thing I always think are worth spending on providing you can spare the money.

SkepticalCat · 29/12/2021 10:59

Definitely go for it. Much better value than the less than £20 purses that you usually buy. How long do the cheap purses last before they start looking worn-out? The purse you've got your eye on is about 5x the price of the usual purses you buy, but I can pretty much guarantee that a well-made leather purse will last more than 5x as long. (Even if you keep a cheap purse for a year, I reckon a leather one will still look good in five years time.)
