Anyone else want to get back in shape after having a baby?

Baby is 6 months old. I feel like I'm almost back into shape but at the same time not at all! I need to lose a dress size, maybe a stone, and somehow shrink my belly.

Anyone else for moral support??

I am still trying to get back into shape after having DD1. She’ll be 8 in January. DD2 is now 15mo.

My baby is 13 months. Also got about a stone of squidge I’d rather not have. I’m still here with the roses tin though

ohthejoysoftoddler · 28/12/2021 21:11

14 month old over here! My second and last. I was doing OK but have gained about 7lb over Xmas. Got a stone to shift 😭

Hotyogahotchoc · 29/12/2021 16:08

@cruffin is that a diet plan or exercise or both? A it easy to follow?

@BeingATwatItsABingThing I think I held more weight after first baby and wasn't my slimmest before having DC2 so that doesn't help

@Notwithittoday I know but it's Christmas. I feel like I may as well have sone of the Christmas chocolates and just try to be more active then cut down in the sugary stuff in a week or so Grin

@ohthejoysoftoddler Christmas isn't good for anyone's waistline!

Sorry realised there's a typo in the title!

I think my issue is eating the sugary foods. Im breastfeeding and that makes me hungry but apparently burns cals so am I gonna find it even harder once I stop BFing? Confused

I'm going to try to be more active too - 10K steps a day and plenty of walks. I may even start Les Mills again online as baby seems to like watching me prance about Grin

Before DD1, I was a 10/12 with an hourglass figure. I’m now a 16 and very much a pear shape. I hate my body completely.

Hotyogahotchoc · 29/12/2021 22:20

@BeingATwatItsABingThing It's a shame you hate the way you look. I don't hate how I look but I don't feel comfortable if I want to look "nice" eg I went to a wedding and felt very self conscious beforehand that I wouldn't feel comfortable in anything I might wear because I'm obviously bigger than I was. Similarly I've been thinking about what I will wear to go back to work.

I used to wear figure hugging dresses but no way could I do that now.

I thought I looked fine in jeans and a t shirt until I looked at the photo of myself the other day and saw the truth!

I don't hate my body as it gave me by boy and I consider that almost miraculous (even though it's a normal biological thing) but I definitely feel self conscious.

I feel like it will be difficult to lose the weight too. I'd like to lose a stone.

Yes but my baby is 21...

Probably not the thread for me Grin

WalkingOnSonshine · 29/12/2021 22:24

I’m keen to eat better and move more. Having DS has made me realise that my body is pretty fucking amazing, so I should look after it more.

Eating all the shit in the house first though. I’ll sign in on Monday. Going to get meal planning inspo from Instagram, plus use the FIIT app on Sky.

Mammatomeldody · 29/12/2021 22:41

The only times I’ve ever loved my body were whilst I was pregnant with my girls. I wore bump hugging clothes all the time. Now, I wear as baggy as possible and high waisted jeans to try and hold my tummy in. It doesn’t work.

My DH still says he thinks I’m sexy but I know he’s being kind.

Hotyogahotchoc · 29/12/2021 23:44

@BeingATwatItsABingThing I know what you mean. I feel like hiding my tummy from DH. I can't imagine my saggy wrinkly belly is v attractive!

@Imdreamingofapeacefulxmas @mumsiedarlingrevolta so no hope for me
then Grin

@WalkingOnSonshine I think that's what I want to do. I'm not sure a meal plan will help me but I'm usually good with lists so if I say no sugar I can sometimes do it if I really set my mind to it or I could plan to do 10k steps or exercise 3x a week

I think I might check back in on Monday too... gives me chance to finish the Lindt box and biscuits Blush

I should really just throw them out!

Yes!! Also have a 6 month old and have lost ZERO weight since the birth despite breastfeeding. My face is so chubby 😭😭😭 I had pretty bad PCOS and we needed fertility treatment to conceive so GP thinks bfing is messing with my hormones. Im only doing 2 feeds a day now - the rest formula so planning on joining slimming world and starting swimming. Would like to lose 2 stone by easter?

Hotyogahotchoc · 02/01/2022 21:02

@GuidingSpirit I've heard mixed things about BFing in that it's supposed to help the weight come off but I've heard people lose after they stopped!

How long do you plan to BF for?

I'm thinking if weaning baby off it for the most part for when I go back to work

I weighed myself yesterday and I weighed v slightly less than I thought so that's good but I want to lose at least a stone by the time I go back to work but ideally sooner!

I'd like to lose more but a stone seems realistic.

Would it help to share actual numbers?

I’m keen. Baby is 9 months old and I feel obese. I was fine with it until I saw a photo of myself on my horse and panicked. I’m still bfing which makes me ravenously hungry and hanging onto fat like I’m some kind of fertility goddess. Hoping when I stop the bf in 3 months time I’ll recover my figure a bit.
