Looking for something that will entertain kids aged 7-12 plus their parents. Happy to prepare things in advance if needed - it’s the first year they will probably all stay up, and I’d like to create an evening we all enjoy :)

My 8 year old is loving cards against humanity (family edition obviously) and it brings lots of laughs

We enjoy charades, scattergories, articulate and pictionary - there are online versions of each if you don't have the games at home.(dd12 and ds10)

There are some good games on PlayStation that you can play with your phone. One is called That’s Me and then some of the others are on Jackbox so maybe have a look for them. Everyone logs in via their phone or iPad and you can answer questions or draw stuff etc (usually ends up being a lot of poos and penises which keep my teens entertained!)

The salad bowl game

Another vote for Scattergories - we played last night for the 1st time and it was really fun.

Exploding Kittens is a favourite here 😊

Over Christmas we found that Weird Things Humans Search For worked well because the younger kids were just as good as the adults. Also Pandemic (topical!) as it's a cooperative game so everyone works together.

Thank you! Off to look some of these up.

We enjoyed Sussed on Christmas Day - It's a game where you have to guess what answer the person reading out the scenario would say.

As children we used to enjoy Bingo at new year. Turning the cage, reading out the number then mini prizes for four corners/first row and full house!

Confusedteacher · 28/12/2021 20:02

Throw throw burrito was a big hit in our house last new year! Also Rapidough is a great one for a family group

PatriotCanes · 28/12/2021 20:02

The Yes/No game
Exploding kittens.
Uno.

Although plain cards also works as the adults can teach the kids new games and then get thrashed.

The taskmaster book has lots of ideas in for daft activities - we had a great NYE a couple of years back playing that. Dh was the taskmaster and we split into teams... things like throwing a slice of bread into the toaster, dressing your knee up as a famous person...ridiculous but funnyGrinThere is also a board game version
