Anyone got any model-making type hobbies?

My DP was given a Warhammer set for Christmas and even though it's not really his thing, he's had a nice old afternoon putting together the little figures. He's been out and bought primers and paints and glue and seems really happy to have something fun to do. I would quite like something similarly practical. Not war figurines but something model-making.... I've seen a nice kit on Amazon: www.amazon.co.uk/CUTEBEE-Dollhouse-Miniature-Furniture-DollHouse/dp/B082M4XYJ5/ref=pb_allspark_dp_sims_pao_desktop_session_based_6/259-2125325-0452432?pf_rd_p=c21c9a5b-a275-419b-ad32-fe74b12c3063&th=1&pf_rd_r=80TNBBXHJ6E6FVW7C384&pd_rd_wg=94TUq&pd_rd_i=B082M4XYJ5&pd_rd_w=o5eA2&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&pd_rd_r=b68f5cbc-3c84-4208-ad45-7b0abb1b7235 but no clue how doable that is for a total noob.... Any other suggestions from people with this type of hobby?
PS sorry if the link has posted enormously!

I’ve been eyeing up those doll houses too! I’m not sure I have the patience though

I absolutely love doing sweary embroidery.

Sweary embroidery!! I love it!!
@ChoccySprinkles they're so pretty, aren't they? I'm tempted to give one of the less expensive ones a go.... we're moving house shortly and reserving a spare room for all things "geek/hobby" so would love to start a bit of a collection!

Having a similar kit myself, the only thing I will say is there is “waiting time” as in waiting for glue or paint to dry before you can move on. But they are pretty straightforward to make and quite satisfying.

I like the adult Lego sets. I got a flower one for my birthday.

GnomeOrMistAndIceGuy · 28/12/2021 17:32

Helpful to know about the waiting time, thank you! And lego...now there's an idea!

I love adult Lego but it is expensive and you need space to display it, but it is a lot of fun. I got an air clay set from one of the DC for Christmas and that’s quite a fun affordable thing, as is needle felting, which I got last year. I love my craft hobbies, it’s not Christmas for me if there isn’t something I can make!

I've got one of those kits. I've looked at it and put it back in the box. Its something I don't have enough time for right now.
